Mexican President Threatened To ‘Mobilize’ Against U.S. Two Weeks Before L.A. Riots

Just weeks before violent riots broke out in Los Angeles in defiance of immigration enforcement, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum threatened to “mobilize” against the United States after Republicans sought to tax remittances to Mexico.

One proposal in the “big, beautiful bill” would tax remittances sent by immigrants to their home country at 3.5 percent. Remittances accounted in 2023 for roughly 7.5 percent “of global remittance flows,” according to the Center for Strategic & International Studies.

Do We Really Want NATO Countries to Spend More on Weapons?

For decades, the bedrock rationale for NATO’s existence has been the formidable conventional and nuclear threat Russia posed. However, recent geopolitical realities necessitate a critical re-evaluation of this foundational premise.

Russia, the very reason for NATO’s enduring vigilance, increasingly reveals itself as a waning power. Its protracted and costly war against Ukraine has demonstrably exposed severe limitations in military capability, logistical resilience, and strategic foresight. Despite its historical might and nuclear arsenal, Russia has failed to decisively defeat a significantly smaller neighbor after years of brutal conflict.

Carney says era of U.S. dominance on the world stage is over

Saying that the era of the United States’ dominance on the world stage is over, Prime Minister Mark Carney committed his government on Monday to meeting the NATO benchmark target of two per cent of the country’s gross domestic product by the end of the current fiscal year in March.

The prime minister outlined his vision of Canada moving more closely toward European allies in a speech in Toronto this morning.

“We stood shoulder to shoulder with the Americans throughout the Cold War and in the decades that followed, as the United States played a dominant role on the world stage. Today, that dominance is a thing of the past,” Carney told an audience of foreign policy thinkers, national security officials and defence industry business leaders.

As if Europe will be a sufficient counter to Russia and China.

More and more it appears Carney has been appointed overseer of Canada’s demise. I just can’t figure out if he’s working for China or the USA.

US deploys Marines to Los Angeles as Trump backs arrest of California governor

LOS ANGELES/WASHINGTON, June 9 (Reuters) – The U.S. military will temporarily deploy about 700 Marines to Los Angeles until more National Guard troops can arrive, marking another escalation in President Donald Trump’s response to street protests over his aggressive immigration policies.

A U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said a battalion would be sent on temporary duty until more National Guard troops could reach the scene. For now, the Trump administration was not invoking the Insurrection Act, which would allow troops to directly participate in civilian law enforcement.

Restoring Law & Order is “Escalation”.

Mexico Provides Legal Aid to Illegal Migrants Arrested by ICE in L.A.

Mexico’s president is providing legal aid to the Mexican illegal migrants in Los Angeles who were recently arrested by ICE workplace operations.

The aid for detained illegal Mexican migrants is being provided via Mexico’s little-known network of consulates in many American cities. So far, there are no reports that Mexico is aiding any Mexicans arrested for rioting.

Christopher Wray Lied: The FBI Was Targeting American Catholics

A US Senate investigation reveals that anti-Catholic animus in the FBI runs deep, and several unsettling questions remain.

Over two years ago, the nation’s top law enforcement agency landed in hot water when a memo leaked detailing plans to infiltrate and illegally spy on certain Catholic parishes and classifying American Catholics devoted to the Tridentine Mass as “Radical-Traditionalist Catholics” and “Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremists.” The memo, drafted and approved by the FBI’s Richmond field office, caused outrage and initiated a series of congressional hearings, during which then-FBI director Christopher Wray attested, under oath, that the Richmond field office had acted alone in drafting the memo, which was never circulated or meant to be circulated to the FBI more broadly. Wray lied.

Unlawful assembly declared in downtown LA as 5th Column foments insurrection

Protests against immigration raids in Los Angeles escalated on Sunday as US President Donald Trump called to “bring in the troops”.

Rising unrest saw a major freeway blocked and a row of self-driving cars set on fire as law enforcement used tear gas, rubber bullets and flash bangs to control the crowd.

Police called downtown LA an “unlawful assembly” area at 23:15 local time on Sunday (07:15 BST on Monday) after three days of protests and dozens of arrests.

China’s super-embassy in London ‘must be blocked’ after US warning

Plans for a new Chinese “super-embassy” in London must be blocked after a warning from the White House, the Tories have said.

Chris Philp, the shadow home secretary, said the proposals for a huge new complex near the city’s financial hub pose a “security risk” and should be thrown out.

The proposed “mega embassy” at the former Royal Mint site near the Tower of London has been locked in a planning battle for years, with the decision called in for review last year.

Carney to announce Canada will meet 2% NATO spending target by March … except NATO supports Trump’s 5% Ask as do most members

Carney to announce Canada will meet 2% NATO spending target by March

Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to announce that his government plans to meet the NATO benchmark target of two per cent of the country’s gross domestic product by the end of the current fiscal year in March, Radio-Canada has confirmed.

The prime minister will outline a pathway to the often-hyped two per cent goal in a speech in Toronto this morning, said the confidential source who was not authorized to speak publicly.

NATO to propose upping members’ defence spending to 5% in line with Trump demand

NATO’s Secretary-General Mark Rutte on Thursday said he will propose that members increase their overall military spending target to 5 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) at the pact’s next summit. “There’s broad support,” Rutte said.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia returns to the US — but not the way his supporters wanted

MS 13 Gang Member Kilmar Garcia

For two months, Democrats have agitated on behalf of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an illegal immigrant, alleged gang member, and suspected human trafficker whom the Trump administration deported to El Salvador. Picked up by police in Maryland in 2019, Abrego Garcia was given a deportation order on the basis of his unlawful presence in the United States and gang activity. But the immigration judge specifically ordered that Abrego Garcia not be deported to his home country of El Salvador, where Abrego Garcia claimed he would be in danger.

Canada won’t become the 51st US state – but could it join the EU?

Carney, Macron – Neither has an ideal domestic life from the look of it

Joachim Streit has never stepped foot in Canada. But that hasn’t stopped the German politician from launching a tenacious, one-man campaign that he readily describes as “aspirational”: to have the North American country join the EU.

“We have to strengthen the European Union,” said Streit, who last year was elected as a member of the European parliament. “And I think Canada – as its prime minister says – is the most European country outside of Europe.”

Streit had long imagined Canada as a sort of paradise, home to dense forests that course with wide, rushing rivers. But after Donald Trump returned to power, launching much of the world into a trade war and turning his back on America’s traditional allies, Streit began to cast the northern country in a new light.

Oh yea, let’s hitch our wagon to Communism’s zombie offspring.

Keir Starmer to visit Canada for security talks after Trump threats

Sir Keir Starmer will travel to Canada next week to discuss security and economic co-operation after President Trump’s threats to its independence, The Times has learned.

He will meet Mark Carney, the prime minister, on June 14, against a backdrop of growing tensions between Ottawa and Washington.

Carney attempted to repair relations on a visit to the White House last month, but was rebuffed last week when Trump doubled tariffs on steel imports to 50 per cent, sparking Canadian warnings of “catastrophic” job losses, factory closures and disruption to supply chains. The UK is the only country that has avoided the 50 per cent tariff after Trump and Starmer struck a deal.

I bet this strikes fear into Washington.

I visited the fattest place in America, where fresh fruit is a 12-mile trip away

Clyde Anderson has a thick, raised scar, three centimetres wide, that runs down the centre of his chest where his ribcage was cut open.

In 2020, surgeons extracted veins from Anderson’s leg and grafted them to his heart in a quadruple bypass. His original coronary arteries had become so clogged with fat that he had had a heart attack.

“I was truck-driving and eating when I could, eating fast food,” says Anderson, 54. At the time, he weighed around 19 stone (120kg). “Then my health checked up on me.”

You Won’t Believe What the Media Is Saying About the Anti-ICE Riots

Hell is not a donut shop.

Okay, you probably will. In fact, I am sure you expected it.

By now you’ve seen footage of the anti-ICE rioting and violence going on in Los Angeles. But here’s some select footage anyway:

Despite the obvious violence and destruction, the media is once again taking a page out of the 2020 BLM riots playbook, and insisting that everything is peaceful.

Iran blasts Trump for ‘racist mentality’ and hostility to Muslims over travel ban

Tehran has denounced the US travel ban on Iranians and citizens of 11 other mostly Middle Eastern and African countries, saying Washington’s decision was a sign of a “racist mentality”.

Donald Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday reviving sweeping restrictions that echo the US president’s first-term travel ban, justified on national security grounds after a firebomb attack at a pro-Israel rally in Colorado.

Alireza Hashemi-Raja, the foreign ministry’s director general for the affairs of Iranians abroad, called the measure – which takes effect on 9 June – “a clear sign of the dominance of a supremacist and racist mentality among American policymakers”.

I call it good common sense.
