This Is What an Intifada Looks Like

The American anti-Israel movement has radicalized.

Since November 2023—“fairly regularly, sometimes weekly”—a group of Boulder, Colorado, residents have held marches advocating for the release of Hamas’s hostages in Gaza. The regularity of these marches likely contributed to Sunday’s targeted attack, in which a man named Mohamed Soliman allegedly threw Molotov cocktails at the marchers while yelling “end Zionists” and “Palestine is free.” The FBI is investigating the incident as an “act of terror;” the Department of Homeland Security has claimed Soliman was an illegally resident Egyptian national.

HUNTER: U.S. DOJ cleans house, booting killers and a ‘Canadian’ terrorist

The press release from the U.S. Department of Justice was terse. It was not self-congratulatory.

For a Canadian bombarded with daily examples of the insanity of our own justice and immigration systems, it was refreshing, even inspiring.

On second thought, it was depressing to think how staggeringly high the threshold is in Canada to boot arch-criminals, terrorists and their sympathizers.

Former Syrian officials have also confirmed Mr Tice’s detention to the BBC.

The US government has previously stated that it believed he had been held by the Syrian government, but the Assad regime continuously denied this, and nothing was known about the details of his detention.

Suspect charged with multiple felonies in attack on Colorado rally for Israeli hostages

A man has been charged with multiple felonies after he allegedly used a makeshift flamethrower and incendiary devices to attack a crowd of people who were raising awareness for Israeli hostages in Gaza, injuring eight.

Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, is alleged to have shouted “Free Palestine” as he attacked the crowd on Sunday, in what the FBI is treating as an “act of terrorism”. Soliman was booked into Boulder county jail on Sunday and has a hearing scheduled for 1.30pm local time on Monday.

Officials said there was no indication that the attack was associated with any group. NBC reported Soliman was an Egyptian national, and the White House claimed Soliman was in the US without legal status.

The mysterious drop in fentanyl seizures on the U.S.-Mexico border

These guys had nothin to do with it according to WAPO.

MEXICO CITY — After years of confiscating rising amounts of fentanyl, the opioid that has fueled the most lethal drug epidemic in American history, U.S. officials are confronting a new and puzzling reality at the Mexican border.

Fentanyl seizures are plummeting.

The phenomenon has received little notice in Washington, where the Trump administration has made fentanyl-trafficking cartels a national-security priority. “Narcotics of all kinds are pouring across our borders,” said a White House statement in March, announcing stiff tariffs on Mexico and Canada.

Volkswagen to make ‘massive’ investment in US in bid to avoid tariffs

Volkswagen, Europe’s largest industrial group, has said it will make a “massive” investment in the US. The group, which includes Porsche, revealed it has been in direct talks with Donald Trump’s administration as it faces damaging tariffs.

Oliver Blume, who heads the group, said the talks were “constructive” and “fair”, in an interview that suggests the company, whose market capital is £44bn, is not willing to leave tariff negotiations to Brussels alone.

Speaking to Süddeutsche Zeitung, Blume said he had been to Washington himself and had a direct line to the US commerce secretary, Howard Lutnick, but had agreed to keep details of the talks confidential.

Business leaders and elected officials are concerned that the White House’s policies are forcing the sister cities in to an unwanted ‘break up.’

This U.S. fugitive lived in Toronto for 21 years without a passport or bank account

A longtime fugitive wanted for manslaughter in Florida admits it was “a mistake” to flee to Toronto, where he was recently arrested after spending more than 21 years on the run.

In a sworn affidavit obtained by CBC News, Patrick Lutts Jr. publicly outlines for the first time how he hid from U.S. authorities after his involvement in a drunk-driving crash in Orlando, Fla., that killed two teens.

Lutts has no passport, he said, no Canadian bank account and had stayed in the same apartment in Toronto’s Church and Wellesley neighbourhood since 2004.

What White House reportedly said about the future of Mark Carney’s daughter at Harvard

As Harvard University remains the focus of the Trump administration’s ire, the fate of its international students hangs in balance, including Cleo Carney, the daughter of the Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

A little over a week ago, the Trump administration cancelled Harvard’s ability to enroll international students, leaving current foreign students to transfer to other colleges or risk losing their visa status.

Harvard Has Trained So Many Chinese Communist Officials, They Call It Their ‘Party School’

Kennedy School of Government is favored by party cadres seeking career boosts

U.S. schools—and one prestigious institution in particular—have long offered up-and-coming Chinese officials a place to study governance, a practice that the Trump administration could end with a new effort to keep out what it says are Chinese students with Communist Party ties.

For decades, the party has sent thousands of mid-career and senior bureaucrats to pursue executive training and postgraduate studies on U.S. campuses, with Harvard University a coveted destination described by some in China as the top “party school” outside the country.

Alumni of such programs include a former vice president and Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s top negotiator in trade talks with the first Trump administration.

It’s certainly endorsed by Carney.
