Greenland leaders ready to talk with Trump after prez-elect expressed interest to make territory part of America

Greenland’s leader Múte Egede said he is prepared to enter into negotiations with President-elect Trump about the future of the mineral-rich arctic territory — but warned his people had no interest in becoming Americans.

At a press conference Friday in Denmark, which exercises nominal sovereignty over Greenland, Egede said he accepted that Greenland was “a place that the Americans see as part of their world” and that while he has not spoken with Trump, he was open to “discussions about what unites us.”

America and Europe, Facing Similar Threats, Can Hang Together — or Hang Separately

Both face shrinking and aging populations. Both either cannot or will not control their borders, despite popular protests. Both suffer from woke political correctness and are pushing back

Consider these European and American binaries.

On December 20, 2024, a terrorist, Taleb Al-Abdul Mohsen, rammed his SUV into a Christmas crowd at Magdeburg, Germany. He killed six pedestrians and injured 299 others.

Eleven days later, on New Year’s Eve at New Orleans, Louisiana, Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar smashed his pickup into a festive crowd. He murdered 15 and hurt over 35.

American Free Speech vs. European Censorship

The European Union’s Digital Services Act (DSA) obliges US social media platforms to take a whole arsenal of preventive and repressive measures, basically to prevent the sharing of information that displeases the European Commission. The new US administration will not tolerate levying fines of tens of billions of dollars on major US technology companies by a European Union that is drifting towards authoritarianism and is at the same time more dependent than ever on American power.

How Trump could declare a national emergency to hit Canada with 25 per cent tariffs

WASHINGTON — United States president-elect Donald Trump may declare a national emergency in order to turn his threat to slap Canada with 25 per cent across-the-board tariffs into a reality.

With less than two weeks to go until Trump returns to the White House, it’s still not clear how the Republican leader will enact his tariff agenda. Greta Peisch, the former general counsel for the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, said the incoming president could use the International Economic Emergency Powers Act (IEEPA).

I really don’t care that the Corporate Welfare Class gets hurt they deserve it but Canadian workers will also suffer.

In court with the ‘9/11 mastermind’, two decades after his arrest

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed – auditioned for role in Disney remake of Snow White

Sitting on the front row of a war court on the US’s Guantanamo Bay naval base in Cuba, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, one of the world’s most notorious defendants, appeared to listen intently.

“Can you confirm that Mr Mohammed is pleading guilty to all charges and specifications without exceptions or substitutions?” the judge asked his lawyer as Mohammed watched on.

“Yes, we can, Your Honour,” the lawyer responded.

Annexation has always haunted Canada

The ghosts of 1911 are not far away

“It is her own soul that Canada risks today.” Rudyard Kipling’s cable to a Montreal newspaper was an explosive intervention in the country’s 1911 election, which turned on a familiar question: should Canadians submit to the “economic force” of the United States? The Liberal Prime Minister Sir Wilfrid Laurier had gambled that Canadians would welcome an expansive free trade agreement but Kipling urged this young nation not to yoke itself to a reckless people who “have so decimated their resources” that they needed “virgin fields” elsewhere. His words decisively reinforced Laurier’s Conservative opponents, who alleged he was colluding with Americans to annex Canada. Laurier soon went down to a crushing defeat.

Trump Was Closer To Buying Greenland Than Previously Known

Steel, plastics, Florida orange juice on Canada’s list of potential retaliatory tariffs against U.S.

Among the most senior officials in Ottawa, there is a document circulating that outlines specific details about how Canada could retaliate against Donald Trump’s tariff threat.

American steel products, ceramics including toilets and sinks, glassware, flowers and different types of plastics are all included as possible targets for retaliatory tariffs.

How Trump can amend Canada’s constitution…with just one phone call

Let’s call it the Crowder Amendment.

Steven Crowder, the conservative talk show host, is the son of an American father and a French-Canadian mother, from Quebec. Born in the U.S., Crowder’s mother returned to the Montreal area with Steve and attempted to enroll him in an English language publicly funded school.  He was rejected because, you see, Steve does not have the right blood lines. Neither his father nor his mother attended an English language school in Canada and he was therefore denied an eligibility certificate. You can read more about what Crowder went through here.

Carson Jerema: The phoney Donald Trump annexation crisis

So it turns out Donald Trump doesn’t really want to annex Canada. Seriously. Anyone who watched his news conference Tuesday, and not just the short clip shared on social media, should come away assured, as much as one can be with Trump anyway, that his comments about this country becoming the 51st state really are little more than trolling. Certainly, the U.S. president-elect repeatedly musing about absorbing Canada has never been funny, and the words themselves undermine Canadian sovereignty, but nothing Trump said Tuesday was much different than what he’s been saying for weeks.

I would consider a merger with the USA.

Under Trudeau: Record illegal crossings at border, terrorism threats

(The Center Square) – As Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his plan to resign on Monday, questions remain about his administration’s border security policies and increased terrorism threats in Canada that partially contributed to the demands for his resignation.

At a news conference on Monday, Trudeau said he planned to resign after his party picked a replacement. Critics argue it was an attempt to avoid a vote of no confidence when parliament reconvenes on Jan. 27, which would prompt a call for a new election.
