Bernie Sanders Sides With Immigration Restrictionists in Tech Visa Debate, Saying Musk Wants To ‘Replace’ Americans With ‘Indentured Servants’

I’m with Bernie

Senator Sanders is coming out squarely on the side of immigration hardliners by saying that the H-1B visa program for high-skilled immigrant laborers is nothing more than a ploy for the rich to get richer by suppressing American wages.

Mr. Sanders, who is an ardent opponent of President Trump, has inserted himself into a debate that’s divided Trump supporters. Trump’s co-chairmen of the new Department of Government Efficiency, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, have received fierce criticism from America Firsters since saying that the H-1B program should not only be protected, but expanded.

It’s always about the greater good. For their pocketbooks.

Weimar America: The Threat Is on the Left

Max Pechstein Poster for periodical An die Laterne (To the Lamp Post) 1919 – Pechstein, one of the most politically engaged artists of the early postwar period, made this poster to advertise the short-lived journal An die Laterne (To the lamp post), which promoted the incumbent Social Democratic Party. Its image of clenched-fisted, flag-carrying protestors—probably communists—marching past a man hanged from a lamppost was a warning against the mob violence and anarchy that threatened to destabilize the fledgling Weimar Republic.

The same angst and disgruntlement that brought the Nazis to power can be seen in today’s woke leftist youth.

For years now we’ve heard that even moderately conservative Republicans are “far right” and deserving of the “Nazi” label. And Republican presidential candidates routinely are tagged with the “Hitler” label. The only time the label is removed is when the left finds it useful to contrast “good” Republicans with bad. So, for example, the onetime Hitler aspirant George W. Bush became “statesmanlike,” sort of, when it became useful to contrast him with the new boogeyman, Donald Trump.

A more subtle form of this labeling comes in the form of comparing our current situation to that of the Weimar Republic — Germany’s first attempt to create a constitutional democratic republic similar to our own, instituted after World War I in 1919. Despite high hopes, the new republic was troubled throughout its short life, riven by radicalism on both the left and the right, catastrophically failing in the end, and giving way in 1933 to Hitler’s Nazi dictatorship.

Islamism ruined Britain do not let it ruin America

The New Year began in America with news that a Ford F-150 Lightning pick-up truck had been driven into crowds on Bourbon Street, in New Orleans’ French Quarter, killing 15 and injuring 35 more. The suspect then exited the vehicle and opened fire, wounding two police officers, before being shot dead. The assailant has been identified as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a US army veteran born in Texas. While this had all the hallmarks of an Islamist attack, the FBI were quick to have a barely-literate confirm “it is not a terrorist event”. This was then recanted, when it was revealed that Jabbar was flying an ISIS flag from the trailer hitch of the truck, and that two improvised explosive devices were found near the scene. Now, the FBI suspects Jabbar did not work alone.

We’ve Forgotten a Key Part of Counterterrorism

Stopping attacks requires a “see something, say something” mentality. (In Canada that would result in hate crime charges)

In the early hours of New Year’s Day, 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a U.S. Army veteran from Houston, plowed his rented truck through revelers on New Orleans’s Bourbon Street. Then he jumped out and initiated the shootout that ended his life, wounding two police officers. Police found an ISIS flag, weapons, and an improvised explosive device in Jabbar’s pick-up truck, along with two more IEDs in the area. Jabbar’s attack left at least 14 dead and dozens more hurt.

Douglas Murray: From college campuses to Afghanistan, we let Islamic terrorism rise again

Let’s all give a big shout-out to the “Globalize the intifada” crowd. You got your way! Congratulations. Hope it feels good.

For years, citizens of Israel have had maniac jihadists driving at them and trying to mow them down on their streets. But this got only cheers from the dolts on US college campuses and New York street protesters.

Then, just before Christmas, Germany again got a taste of this “intifada.” That was when a Saudi immigrant decided to plow a vehicle through a previously happy Christmas market. He killed five people and injured almost 200.

Michael Taube: Who asked Kevin O’Leary to negotiate on our behalf?

Businessman and TV personality Kevin O’Leary has become a travelling salesman for the Great White North as of late. His one-man crusade to promote a stronger Canada-U.S. economic union would have been fine on its own. But alas, he couldn’t help himself (again) and made it all about himself (again) by attempting to get directly involved in a discussion he wasn’t asked to join.

What Happens When a Whole Generation Never Grows Up?

Americans in their 30s have never looked less like grown-ups.

Amid steep declines in homeownership, marriage and birth rates, economists have long been warning that young people are struggling to meet the milestones of adulthood. Although some 30-somethings are consciously choosing a less traditional path, many say these goals are simply out of reach.

“It feels like the instructions for how to live a good life don’t apply anymore,” says 38-year-old Cody Harding, who is single and lives with three roommates in Brooklyn. “And nobody has updated them.”

Leftist Magazine Tries to Claim Vance in Category of Those ‘Born to Immense Privilege’

Vice President-elect JD Vance has been known for his humble beginnings, even before he ran for public office. “Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis” was published 2016, and the movie adaptation came out in 2020. His background has helped him relate to voters, especially in the Midwest. However, in a post from Sunday, Current Affairs, a leftist magazine, tried to claim that Vance and President-elect Donald Trump are part of “right-wing populism,” and thus “born to immense privilege and went to elite schools.”

America, Afghanistan and the Price of Self-Delusion

The collapse of the U.S.-backed government in Afghanistan on Aug. 15, 2021, revealed what little American lives and money had purchased over 20 years there. It also laid bare a gaping disconnect between reality and what senior U.S. officials had been telling Americans for decades: that success was just around the corner.

As the special inspector general for Afghanistan reconstruction since 2012, my staff and I have audited and investigated U.S. programs and spending to rebuild Afghanistan — a mission that, it was hoped, would turn the theocratic, tribal-based “Graveyard of Empires” into a modern liberal democracy.

In hundreds of reports over the last 12 years, we have detailed a long list of systemic problems: The U.S. government struggled to carry out a coherent strategy, fostered overly ambitious expectations, started unsustainable projects and did not understand the country or its people. American agencies measured success not by what they accomplished, but by dollars spent or checklists of completed tasks.

I call this the Malala Delusion identical to previous iterations of the Noble Savage trope.

The Liberal-Left wanted desperately to believe that Islam’s violent excesses could be mitigated.

Malala became their sacred totem trotted out to shame the Islamophobes whenever help was needed to prop up the Elites delusional thinking on Islam.

Across the west Malala salved the cognitive dissonance that arose from importing a murder cult to our civilized lands.

Behold Malala for she is Islam at its most pure and good!

That worked about as you’d expect when Islam’s good vs. evil balance sheet was scrutinized.

Even today she is occasionally called upon to make an appearance but like a stripper past her prime only faded memories remain.

Good on Malala though, she made out like a bandit just like Afghanistan’s western contractors.

Last I heard she and her foundation reside in Bermuda.

New Orleans terror attack: why car rammings are tactic of choice

It was 2016 and the Islamic State jihadist group was on the rise, seizing vast swathes of the Middle East. Not content with its territorial gains, it wanted to sow terror across the western world.

The best way to do this, its leaders believed, was to radicalise as many followers in the West as they could, while suggesting methods of attack that did not demand much in the way of skill, training or financing.

Authorities Treating Cybertruck Explosion Outside Trump Hotel in Las Vegas as Possible Act of Terror

Authorities are treating Wednesday morning’s Tesla Cybertruck explosion outside Trump International Hotel Las Vegas as a possible act of terrorism.

Before it exploded, the all-electric Cybertruck was parked in the valet area outside the Las Vegas hotel. The vehicle had apparently been loaded with fireworks, as security footage circulating on social media seems to indicate. The fire was extinguished and the public was told to avoid the area.

Cybertruck Explosion At Trump Hotel Was Intentional; Rented From Same Company As New Orleans Truck

Muslim violence rings in the New Year at home and in Europe

UPDATED 1530 EST: Not only can we confirm that this was definitely Islamic terrorism, but we know that this was meant to be a devastating terror attack involving several actors and intended to cause hundreds of deaths throughout the French Quarter:

Guns and pipe bombs were also found in the vehicle, according to a Louisiana State Police intelligence bulletin obtained by The Associated Press. The devices, which were concealed within coolers, were wired for remote detonation, the bulletin said, and a corresponding remote control was discovered inside the vehicle.

The FBI said other potential explosive devices were also located in the French Quarter. According to the intelligence bulletin, surveillance footage captured three men and a woman placing one of multiple improvised explosive devices.

FBI: Now We Don’t Believe This *Terrorist* Acted Alone

More details of the terrorist attack in New Orleans have emerged, including the fact that the local FBI team finally admitted it was terrorism. The deceased perp has been identified as a US-born citizen named Shamsud-Din Jabbar, who resided in Houston before dying in the attack. The black flag on the truck did turn out to be an ISIS flag, and at least one active IED has been found and detonated.

Joel Kotkin: Trump presents opportunities for Canada — but Trudeau is unlikely to take them

Let’s stipulate for the record: U.S. president-elect Donald Trump is a jerk with a serious lack of self-control. So when he mocked Canada as a potential “51st state,” he did the one thing no Canadian politician has managed to do: unify a deeply divided country. Talk like this, and his threatened tariffs, has created a wide reaction against Trump, not only from the predictable progressive types, but even conservative figures like Ontario Premier Doug Ford.
