Hackers may have stolen the Social Security numbers of every American. Here’s how to protect yourself

About four months after a notorious hacking group claimed to have stolen an extraordinary amount of sensitive personal information from a major data broker, a member of the group has reportedly released most of it for free on an online marketplace for stolen personal data.

The breach, which includes Social Security numbers and other sensitive data, could power a raft of identity theft, fraud and other crimes, said Teresa Murray, consumer watchdog director for the U.S. Public Information Research Group.

America Must Be Ready for the Next Round of Riots

Police across the U.S. fear a long period of mayhem and bloodshed. The magnitude of recent unstoppable campus riots and urban protests while we await the fall semester and the outcome of the 2024 presidential election in November, has reminded Americans that we are likely one BLM-type scenario from another explosion of race-fueled violence and chaos.

For starters, Congress still has no answers for why the Capitol Police had no standby reaction force on Jan. 6, despite significant intelligence that various radical groups would congregate that day in Washington D.C. The Capitol Police and trained military police units with riot control tear gas should have been prepared to disperse any crowd approaching the Capitol steps.

U.S. taking measures to deter benefit shoppers from Canada

U.S. speeding up asylum claim processing along the Canadian border

The U.S. government is moving to speed up asylum claim processing at its northern border in an attempt to deter migrants from illegally crossing over from Canada.

Washington is making two changes that fall under the Safe Third Country Agreement (STCA), which calls for asylum seekers to apply for refugee status in the first of two countries they enter.

First, migrants looking to prove that they’re exempt from the STCA will have to provide their documents to U.S. border officials at the time of their screening. Migrants previously were allowed to postpone screenings to gather necessary documentation.

Germany has issued arrest warrant for Ukrainian diver over Nord Stream explosions, says report

Germany has issued a European arrest warrant against a Ukrainian diving instructor who allegedly was part of a team that blew up the Nord Stream gas pipelines, according to a report by three German media outlets published on Wednesday.

German investigators believe that the man, last known to have lived in Poland, was one of the divers who planted explosive devices on pipelines running from Russia to Germany under the Baltic Sea in September 2022, the SZ and Die Zeit newspapers reported alongside the ARD broadcaster, citing unnamed sources.

The German prosecutor general’s office declined to comment on the report, which said that Germany had asked Poland in June to arrest the man.

Hardly Hot Take Zelensky and Biden were behind this. It was done to hurt Russia but also wavering NATO members (Hello Germany!) who loved Russia’s cheap gas.

Hunter and Joe’s Ukraine scam may also have played a role in seeing the sabotage plan move forward.

To Bolster An Aging U.S. Naval Fleet, It’s Time To Bring Back Privateers

The U.S. Navy isn’t just for fighting overseas or protecting the homeland. It’s also a basic tool of force projection, diplomacy, and protecting and regulating international trade. But today’s Navy is too small to meet the demands placed on it. As a result, traditional Navy tasks, such as enforcing sanctions, are far down the priority list. But this capability gap could be filled if we had the boldness to bring back privateers.

During the long response to the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and the delusion of the peaceful rise of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), the U.S. Navy was allowed to atrophy. One tangible consequence: Today, America reportedly has no aircraft carriers dedicated to deterring an increasingly bellicose China — they’re all either in the Middle East, headed to the Middle East, or in various stages of training or repair.

Unemployable

Regardless of political affiliation, recent American presidents commonly say that the nation needs to win back manufacturing jobs lost to overseas relocation. “Where is it inscribed that America cannot reclaim its position as the world’s manufacturing hub?” queried President Biden recently. He has pushed for policies that penalize corporations for moving jobs abroad and that incentivize job repatriation. Biden’s predecessor Donald Trump pursued a similar objective with different means, modifying the tax code to encourage companies to bring back profits earned internationally and imposing tariffs to protect domestically produced goods. Despite their ideological differences, both presidents share a similar view on infrastructure and its capacity to create jobs in construction and related sectors. Trump proposed a $1 trillion infrastructure initiative to get Americans back to work as the Covid pandemic waned; Biden enacted a program allocating approximately $550 billion toward local infrastructure projects.

Viral immigration presentation using a classic kids’ staple comes back to haunt Harris 30 years later

An old video of NumbersUSA founder Roy Beck using gumballs to describe the perils of mass migration into the United States went viral again last week, which the group he founded says demonstrates the timelessness of his message.

“Some people say that mass immigration into the United States can help reduce world poverty. Is that true? Well, no it’s not,” Beck said in the video. NumbersUSA, an advocacy group for limiting legal and illegal immigration, says the presentation has gotten more than 140 million views on various platforms over the years.

In Secret Talks, U.S. Offers Amnesty to Venezuela’s Maduro for Ceding Power

Long-shot American attempt fueled by opposition effort to document strongman’s overwhelming defeat at the polls

BOGOTA—The U.S. is pursuing a long-shot bid to push Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro to give up power in exchange for amnesty as overwhelming evidence emerges that the strongman lost last month’s election, people familiar with the matter said. The U.S. has discussed pardons for Maduro and top lieutenants of his who face Justice Department indictments, said three people familiar with the Biden administration deliberation. One of the people said the U.S. has put “everything on the table” to persuade Maduro to leave before his term ends in January.

Another person familiar with the talks said the U.S. would be open to providing guarantees not to pursue those regime figures for extradition. The U.S. in 2020 placed a $15 million bounty for information leading to Maduro’s arrest on charges of conspiring with his allies to flood the U.S. with cocaine.

The talks represent a flicker of hope for a Venezuelan political opposition that meticulously collected voter tallies showing its candidate, little-known former diplomat Edmundo González, defeated Maduro in a landslide in the July 28 election. Over the past two weeks, Maduro has jailed thousands of dissidents, maintained the military’s loyalty and tasked the Supreme Court, stacked with his handpicked allies, with resolving the election impasse, buying him time.

Concerning America’s Ability to Protect and Defend Its Very Future

While the world’s attention is focused on the Middle East as the next probable flashpoint, it would be wise to look to the skies over the Bering Sea, near the coast of Alaska.

China’s People’s Liberation Army Air Force is now getting a good look at the continental United States. And they are doing it from bombers flying in formation with their allies, the Russians.

Over the last number of years, China has been confronting Japan, the Philippines, and Taiwan with provocative naval and air exercises. Now add the United States to their list of targets. This time, however, they are working in close coordination with the Russians.

Biden-Harris admin colluded with big tech, Trudeau to undermine Canadian freedom truckers

Explosive Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) documents released to the Gun Owners of America (GOA), obtained by The Post Millennial, reveal how the Biden administration colluded with social media and conspired with the Trudeau government to deplatform and censor the protesting truckers of Canada’s Freedom Convoy in 2022.

The FOIA request was filed by the GOA with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to see if they were being subject to any unwanted federal surveillance. The documents released by DHS and first posted by Ammoland Shooting Sports News revealed this interesting tidbit in an email from Samantha Vinograd to Robert Silvers.

‘Just in Time’ Defense Modernization: Will the United States Miss the Boat?

The US election in November 2024 may well determine the future direction of US national security strategy. In the past year, there has been a steady stream of thoughtful reports about what America’s national security strategy should be. This is a discussion that will hopefully be taken up by the various campaigns of those seeking the presidency.

Four reports are particularly worth attention. They all assess in various detail the current and projected US nuclear posture as well as the nuclear threats the United States faces, especially compared to the situation of a decade and a half ago.

Trump Challenges Harris to Debates, Calls Out New Rival for Ducking Media

Former president Donald Trump challenged Vice President Kamala Harris to three debates during a Thursday press conference at Mar-a-Lago, pointing out that his new rival has avoided unscripted media appearances since replacing President Biden atop the Democratic ticket.

Trump said that he has agreed to appear at three debates, one on September 4 on Fox News, a second on ABC on September 10, and a third on NBC on September 25. Harris had previously said that she would attend the ABC debate but it’s unclear whether she’ll appear for the other two contests.
