America is turning into revolutionary France

Politicians are wilfully ignoring the omens

One of the most dangerous problems in the West today is its vulnerability to normalcy bias: the assumption that nothing will ever happen, things will turn out fine, and there’s nothing really to worry about. Put plainly, this predisposition is a product of our brains not being able to keep up with events. We only have so much brainpower to spare at any particular moment, so if unexpected things happen too quickly, many humans simply tend to freeze up. Even as the waters were slowly seeping into the Titanic, passengers were still milling about, unsure what it all meant.

Holding Anthony Fauci accountable?

Another criminal referral to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) soon may be made by members of the U.S. Congress to investigate Dr. Anthony Fauci for lying under oath to Congress, which is a felony crime.  Representative Jim Comer, chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, soon may follow Senator Rand Paul in requesting that the DOJ to criminally investigate Fauci for lying under oath to Congress.

Who Is Funding the Pro-Hamas Protests; Are They Aiming to Take Down America?

The answers to the question of who is funding the groups behind the pro-Hamas, anti-Israeli protests on US campuses, continue to grow in complexity. It appears that a multitude of donors are falling over each other to help promote the cause of the officially designated terrorist group, Hamas – whose openly stated aim is the destruction of Israel and the Jews — to impressionable young students and the public at large.

Politico revealed — to those who still had doubts — that many of the people bankrolling the campus protests are the same as Biden’s largest donors. They include Democratic mega-donors George Soros, and David Rockefeller Jr. of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. Both have donated to anti-Israeli groups through the Tides Foundation, once described as a “charitable money laundering” organization. It sponsors anti-Israeli groups such as Jewish Voice for Peace and IfNotNow, both of which are active in the protests. In addition, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund has given nearly $500,000 directly to Jewish Voice for Peace over the past five years, and donated to the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights (USCPR).

An idiot with a lot of money is a very dangerous idiot.

The Fauci Personality Cult

It should be bigger news that Dr. Anthony Fauci has admitted that social-distancing guidelines — mandatory in many areas of the country during the pandemic, with non-compliant schools, businesses, and even churches shuttered — “sort of just appeared.” Likewise, there should have been a backlash after Fauci confessed that the public-health establishment misled the public about the efficacy of masking, and after he decided to use arbitrary “herd immunity” thresholds as a vehicle to manipulate the public into behaving in ways he found advantageous. These bombshells washed over the country, in part, because the arbiters of national political discourse were and, in some ways, remain more invested in Fauci as a symbol of elite technocracy than in the public well-being his imperiousness was meant to serve.

Joe Biden is appeasing Hamas

Much of the diplomacy around the Israel-Hamas war has had a Kafkaesaque quality. A case in point was US president Joe Biden’s announcement last week that, following intensive talks, ‘Israel has offered a comprehensive new proposal’ for ‘a roadmap to an enduring ceasefire and the release of all hostages’. The main elements of this proposed three-phase roadmap are: a complete ceasefire including the release of some hostages, a permanent end to hostilities and a major reconstruction plan for Gaza.

Canadian scientist explains how COVID likely escaped from a Chinese lab in ‘five key points’

As the U.S. Congress continues its investigation into the COVID-19 pandemic, with Dr. Anthony Fauci testifying on Monday, a Canadian scientist has taken to the New York Times to outline her contention that the virus probably escaped from a laboratory.

Alina Chan is a molecular biologist specializing in gene therapy and cell engineering at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, where she is a post-doctoral fellow. She’s also co-author with science writer Matt Ridley of the 2021 book Viral: The Search for the Origin of COVID-19

The B-17 blew apart in an instant. The memory has burned for 80 years.

Mel Jenner had one of those World War II jobs that no one really tries out for. Waist gunner in a B-17 bomber was what you’d get if you didn’t draw the straw to be pilot or navigator. You had to man a machine gun in front of an open window space at an altitude of four to five miles, the swirling frigid air tough to bear even in a sheepskin jacket and other cold-weather gear. Handling that 50-caliber machine gun took strength and agility, and following an attacking enemy fighter with it, leading them just enough to account for the movement of both airplanes, was a very particular talent.

Abnormally Dry Canada Taps U.S. Energy, Reversing Usual Flow

In February, the United States did something that it had not done in many years — the country sent more electricity to Canada than it received from its northern neighbor. Then, in March, U.S. electricity exports to Canada climbed even more, reaching their highest level since at least 2010.

The increasing flow of power north is part of a worrying trend for North America: Demand for energy is growing robustly everywhere, but the supply of power — in Canada’s case from giant hydroelectric dams — and the ability to get the energy to where it’s needed are increasingly under strain.

‘We sent our sons off for an adventure. They were dragged into a deadly coup’

When Tyler Thompson told his mother he was going on holiday to South Africa with his best friend, Marcel Malanga, she could not help but worry. Tyler was 21, and ready to leave his home in the prosperous suburbs of Salt Lake City to see the world. But it would be his first trip abroad, and neither of his parents had been to Africa.

A few things made her feel calmer: Marcel’s father, Christian, who lived in Eswatini, formerly Swaziland, had said he would look after the two young men, who had been on the high school football team together. He even paid for Tyler’s flights. In return, Tyler, who had been learning how to pilot drones in his spare time, would help Christian map gold mines that he ran in southern Africa. Tyler thought it would look good on his CV.

Should the U.S. and Europe go their separate ways?

Since at least as far back as 1917, when the U.S. unwisely intervened in World War I to rescue the Western Allies, the major European nations have grown accustomed to American largesse. Americans have played the role of overindulgent parents, and the Europeans have responded as would entitled children who both demand handouts and then resent the parents who supply them.

A large proportion of Europeans have negative opinions of the U.S. They consider us arrogant and selfish. As a result, we have been labeled as “the Ugly Americans” for decades.

The Day the Democrats Putinized America

The guilty verdict against Trump is a crucial watershed moment for America, politically, constitutionally, and morally.

On Thursday, May 30th, a jury of 12 New Yorkers erased the last distinctive line between Biden’s America and Putin’s Russia. With their verdict against Donald Trump, finding him guilty on 34 counts of forging business records, they verified that the Democrat party—the party of the sitting president—can organize a trial with its party operatives as judge and prosecutor, and get their political opponent found guilty.

The judge in the case, Juan Merchan, is an entrenched Democrat who has been selected to prosecute more Republicans than just Donald Trump. In the America that we all knew before Biden came into office, judges were selected randomly; from now on, ‘random’ means a Democrat when the defendant is a Republican.
