Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert (CO) slightly padded her lead against Democrat Adam Frisch in an unexpectedly tight race to represent Colorado’s Third Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

CIA Director’s Former Think Tank Hired Experts From Nonprofits Controlled By Chinese Spy Agencies
An elite Washington, D.C., think tank has employed individuals who’ve worked for front groups controlled by Chinese spy agencies, a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation found.
The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace has employed over a dozen individuals who’ve worked in a range of capacities at China-based nonprofits set up or co-opted by Chinese intelligence agencies, including the Ministry of State Security (MSS) and the intel arm of the People’s Liberation Army.
What Surprise?

There was no October Surprise. This should have been obvious. The big surprise was that there was no surprise. Given that a corrupt and cognitively impaired Joe Biden could be elected, it followed that John Fetterman would win his congressional race. The template had already been put in place. Katie Hobbs refused to debate Kari Lake in Arizona and virtually disappeared from the scene. The only reason for such anomalous behavior could only have been that she was already assured of a strong performance in advance, obviating the need to risk facing the public.
Syrian refugee gets 17 years in Pittsburgh church bomb plot case

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A Syrian refugee has been sentenced to more than 17 years in what authorities said was a plot to plot to bomb a Christian church in Pittsburgh.
Mustafa Mousab Alowemer, 24, was sentenced Tuesday to 17 years and four months on a guilty plea last year to a federal charge of attempting to provide material support and resources to the Islamic Stage group, a militant extremist organization.

Teen arrested for threat against New Jersey synagogues
An 18-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly making broad threats against New Jersey synagogues earlier this month, warning online that he planned to act on his “hatred toward Jews,” federal prosecutors said Thursday.
Omar Alkattoul, 18, has been charged with sharing “a manifesto containing threats to attack a synagogue and Jewish people” on social media, the Department of Justice said.
Couple accused of selling nuclear-related secrets receives longer jail sentences from judge

Diana Toebbe, 46, concocted a false narrative about a plot to sell secrets involving submarine nuclear propulsion systems to a foreign country in an attempt to pin the crime solely on her husband and avoid prison time for herself, a federal judge said Wednesday before sentencing Toebbe to 21 years in prison.
Her attorney cast her husband, 43-year-old Jonathan Toebbe, a former nuclear engineer for the US Navy, as the “brainchild” of a “cover plan” to spare his wife in order to have a parent available to care for the couple’s children but the judge said Diana Toebbe deserved an enhanced sentence.
Democrats Crypto kingpin a fraud
Crypto megadonor Sam Bankman-Fried helped bankroll Democrats’ overperformance in the midterms. But any friends he may have had in Washington won’t be there for him as his crumbling business empire threatens to torpedo the entire digital currency market.
Bankman-Fried’s Washington influence — as well as billions of dollars of his personal wealth — nearly vanished in the span of 48 hours, after it emerged that the giant crypto exchange he founded was insolvent and unable to meet customer withdrawals.
State and federal regulators are now investigating the exchange, FTX, to determine whether it may have harmed clients or broken other financial regulations. An emergency rescue from competing digital asset exchange Binance fell apart after the company dug into FTX’s financials and investigators circled.

Trump Wrongly Blamed for Subpar GOP Performance

The Republicans had a pretty good midterm election despite what pundits are claiming. The GOP must win three of the remaining four Senate races to win control of the upper chamber — a goal well within reach as Republicans lead in Nevada and Wisconsin. And the party is within spitting distance of a House majority.
Soros Wasted $2.5M on Stacey Abrams, $1M on Beto

Congratulations to Stacey Abrams on her second term in office as president of space after her latest effort to claim victory in Georgia fell apart.
For Democrats this ought to count as a win because the midterms have likely freed them from the giant money sponges of Beto O’Rourke and Stacey Abrams in one fell swoop.
Always a silver lining.
The Democrats’ false victory

A progressive bloodbath has merely been delayed
For all their cautious optimism yesterday, a mild Midterms victory may prove the last thing the Democrats need. If they had performed as predicted, the Democrats and their media adjuncts would now be busily dissecting their defeat. But what has to be considered a lost Republican opportunity — gaining little in a country where lifespans are now dropping — also means that the Democrats will be slower to address their weaknesses, and may be forced to accept the unpopular Joe Biden as their leader in 2024.
A tale of two Americas

Red states are growing, while blue states are mired in lawlessness and decline.
Yesterday’s Midterms were not a victory for conservative or progressive ideology, but an assertion of the growing power of geography in American politics. It was less a national election than a clash of civilisations.
Virtually nowhere in blue areas did Republicans make gains. Both the north-east and California – the central players in Democratic Party politics – stayed solidly blue. Even the most well-regarded GOP candidates, such as Lanhee Chen who ran for California state controller, struggled to make inroads in Democratic territory.
Maybe America Hasn’t Suffered Enough

The red wave washed ashore as a ripple, though Republicans did make progress.
It’s late as I write this, though not late enough to know how things will turn out. But there are things we can safely say just after midnight Eastern time on Tuesday as the vote counts roll in and the races get called.
One of them is that for all the anger we’ve seen evidence of from Republican and independent voters, it seems pretty clear that channeling it into positive action is something beyond the reach of the GOP’s leadership and political class.
Five early takeaways from the midterms

There were some crucial results still to come in the 2022 midterm elections as Wednesday dawned.
But some lessons were already clear after a dramatic night.

US midterm elections: Who won, who lost and what it means so far
Hours after the first polls closed, many key races in the US midterms have yet to be called and control of the US Senate, in particular, is still very much up for grabs.
It has been a good enough night for Republicans, but far from a great one. Their hopes of a tidal wave that would sweep them to victory in dozens of toss-up races are not materialising so far.
They have already lost one Senate seat, in Pennsylvania, and will need to flip two among the three states of Nevada, Arizona and Georgia, to take control of that chamber.
Fetterman BEATS Dr. Oz in crucial Pennsylvania Senate race: All eyes turn to Georgia, Nevada and Arizona as Trump-backed J.D. Vance wins Ohio – and control of the House hangs in the balance with red wave failing to materialize

Democratic Senate hopeful John Fetterman beat Dr. Oz in the must-win Pennsylvania Senate race in the early hours of Wednesday morning as top Republicans admitted the red wave hadn’t materialized.
In what polls suggested would be a dominant night for the GOP with President Joe Biden’s low approval ratings serving as a drag, the Democrats won crucial House seats on the East Coast and held onto the endangered Senate seat in New Hampshire.
Trump-backed Republican J.D. Vance was victorious in Ohio and Ron DeSantis won a landslide to be re-elected as Florida Governor, but the GOP victory party was put on ice because of Democratic wins in swing states.
I never cared for Oz but losing to Fetterman is just sad.
