My would-be assassins’ sentencing is a verdict for liberty and a warning to dictators

A courtroom in lower Manhattan last week delivered more than a verdict — it delivered a message.

My Russian would-be assassins, sent by the Iranian regime, have been sentenced to prison. It was a beautiful day — a day of joy and freedom for me and my family.

I have always accepted the price of standing up to the mullahs, but moving from safe house to safe house 21 times hasn’t been easy.

Trump says it would be ‘hard for me’ to fund New York City if Mamdani becomes mayor

US President Donald Trump has said he would be reluctant to send federal funding to his hometown of New York if left-wing front-runner Zohran Mamdani is elected mayor of America’s biggest city this week.

“It’s gonna be hard for me as the president to give a lot of money to New York, because if you have a Communist running New York, all you’re doing is wasting the money you’re sending there,” Trump said in a television interview.

BARBER: Trump brings home deals, Carney brings home nothing

Both Prime Minister Mark Carney and President Donald Trump were in Asia. Prime Minister Carney visited Malaysia, Singapore, and South Korea; he addressed the ASEAN Summit at his first stop. His address to the Association of South East Asian Nations lasted about five minutes.

His speech was generally meaningless, included buzzwords from the late-20th-century free-trade model with an ESG-DEI overlay. Such words as multilateralism, a rule-based system, sustainability, and inclusivity were sprinkled throughout. He repeated his “rupture” comment and, at times, seemed to plead.

The Ignoble, Ignorable UN

Trump has kept US foreign policy from bowing to the United Nations — but future Democratic presidents are unlikely to do the same.

If Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris or even Gavin Nuisance were president of the United States, our foreign policy would be made subservient to the United Nations. As President Trump proved about two weeks ago, it’s easy to ignore the UN — and get other nations to do the same — if a president is so minded.

I’m Sorry, But HOW MANY Illegals Get Food Stamps?

It’s astounding, the things we learn when the money runs out and governments actually have to start prioritizing for a change. As the Schumer Shutdown drags through Week Five with no end in sight, the country’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) — aka “food stamps” — ran out of money on Saturday. And given who was taking, it’s a miracle that there was any money left at all.

Trump threatens to send US military into Nigeria with ‘guns-a-blazing’

Donald Trump has threatened to send the US military into Nigeria with “guns-a-blazing” if the African country does not stem what he described as the killing of Christians by Islamists.

Mr Trump said on on Saturday that he had asked the Pentagon to map out a possible plan of attack, one day after warning that Christianity was “facing an existential threat in Nigeria”.

FBI Didn’t Tell Dearborn Officials About Terror Raid Ahead of Time

Hamas Rally Dearborn Michigan

The story about the ‘terrorist’ raid in Dearborn, Michigan, is still developing but there’s an interesting footnote to it that should really be the lead.

Normally the FBI coordinates with local authorities if it’s planning a raid and major arrests in a city.

How Illegal Immigrant Truck Drivers Ended Up On America’s Roads

“They want the cheapest people behind the wheel and unfortunately by doing that … what we are getting now is carnage on the highway.”

Just a few years after waltzing across the border illegally, Indian national Harjinder Singh allegedly killed three people while making an illegal U-turn on a Florida turnpike as he sat behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler in August.

Singh came into the country in 2018 and was handed a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) in Washington in 2023, according to the Department of Transportation. He received his license despite having “failed his written exam 10 times, and he took his behind-the-wheel training course at a private CDL school in Washington,” Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier recently revealed as part of his ongoing investigation into California’s issuance of trucking licenses to illegal immigrants.

New York holds its breath

Appallingly, progressive Jews are supporting an unhinged Jew-hater because they define this stance as conscience.

With the Islamist Zohran Mamdani poised to be elected mayor of New York City next week, many have been scratching their heads over how any Jew could be voting for him.

Mamdani is an Islamic terrorism sympathizer.

He supports a boycott of Israel and doesn’t believe that the Jewish state should exist.

He sees nothing wrong in chants of “globalize the intifada.”

Why 42 million Americans are about to lose their Snap benefits

About 42 million Americans will lose their food benefits from November 1 because of the government shutdown.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programme (Snap) helps low-income families buy groceries. It is relied upon by one in eight Americans.

Eligible families use an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card much like an ordinary debit card to purchase food. They are usually reloaded by the federal government at the beginning of every month. But on Saturday, this might not happen.

UPDATE: Judges order Trump admin to use emergency funds to pay for SNAP benefits with cutoff Saturday

A pair of federal judges ruled Friday that the Trump administration must use emergency funding to restore at least some SNAP food benefits — one day before the US Department of Agriculture had warned money for the program would run out due to the ongoing government shutdown.

The judges in Boston and Providence, RI, both said that the USDA could decide whether to fund the entitlement commonly known as food stamps in full or in part for the month of November — but a full cutoff was unlawful.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) says it seized 4,300 litres of precursor chemicals used to make fentanyl and other illicit drugs in shipping containers coming from China, which were bound for Calgary.

The seizure occurred in May at the Tsawwassen Container Examination Facility in Delta, B.C., but was publicly announced by CBSA on Thursday — one day before Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea.

FBI thwarts ‘potential terrorist attack,’ raids conducted in Dearborn Michigan multiple people arrested

The FBI has said that it prevented a potential terrorist attack in Michigan, arresting multiple suspects accused of plotting violence over the Halloween weekend.

“This morning, the FBI thwarted a potential terrorist attack and arrested multiple subjects in Michigan who were allegedly plotting a violent attack over Halloween weekend,” FBI Director Kash Patel posted on X.

Details to follow …

I located the source for this tweet’s screenshot of a Dearborn Police announcement. It’s on Instagram.

If true this indicates the arrests were the result of a year long FBI undercover operation.

Trump’s ‘Golden Dome’ missile defence system offers nothing but the illusion of safety

It’s certainly worrisome, as we’re discovering, that U.S. President Donald Trump has so much sway over our economy.

What’s even more worrisome, but rarely mentioned, is that this volatile, vengeful, vindictive, reckless and deeply unpredictable man also has control over the world’s most powerful nuclear arsenal.

Of course, Canadians don’t get to determine who sits in the Oval Office. But we do have some options how to respond.

Trump sets 7,500 annual limit for refugees entering US. It’ll be mostly white South Africans

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration is restricting the number of refugees it admits annually into the country to 7,500 and they will mostly be white South Africans, a dramatic drop after the United States previously allowed in hundreds of thousands of people fleeing war and persecution from around the world.

The Republican administration published the news Thursday in a notice on the Federal Registry.
