Confederate Chaos in Chicago

Are we living in 1859?

I ask it that way because all you can see and hear from Chicago are chaos, anarchy, violence, leftist conspiracy theories and exhortations by Democrats to ruin, and murder federal officials enforcing the law. It’s getting worse by the day.

The residents of the Democrat fever swamp now scream across broadcast media that President Trump will end Democracy in a year. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to rely on information from the local left-leaning corporate legacy news media–Sun Times and Tribune–as violent leftist mobs backed by Democrat politicians continue attacking federal law enforcement officers across the country.

Doug Ford’s ‘Captain Canada’ shtick is getting old. Doesn’t he have a province to run?

Poor Captain Canada. He was once our nation’s hero, but the country seems less enamoured with his shtick now that his arch enemy, U.S. President Donald Trump, has retreated back to his lair to cultivate his malevolent schemes against various foes, and not simply Canada.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford began discovering his powers at the beginning of the year, when Canada was being governed by a lame-duck prime minister and a distinct absence of leadership at the federal level. With no one to counter Mr. Trump’s threats of punishing tariffs, our hero donned his uniform – a navy “Canada Is Not For Sale Hat – and bravely made idle threats about cutting off electricity to the Americans.

Most Canadians think boycotting U.S. goods or travel is helpful: Nanos

Four in five Canadians surveyed believe boycotting U.S.-made goods or avoiding travel to the United States could help strengthen Canada’s bargaining position with its southern neighbour, according to a new Nanos Research survey commissioned by CTV News.

The poll found 80 per cent of Canadians think such boycotts would be “helpful or somewhat helpful” in response to U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods. Fewer than one in five respondents, or 18 per cent, said they believe it would be not helpful or somewhat not helpful.

A lot of Canadians voted for Carney as well …

U.S. bill calls for more integration between Canadian, American border agents

The U.S. Congress is being asked to adopt legislation that could lead to Canada and the United States further integrating their enforcement of the border — including allowing U.S. officers to more freely operate on Canadian soil.

House Resolution 5518, introduced by New York Republican Rep. Nicholas Langworthy, calls on U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to “negotiate or amend existing agreements with the Government of Canada, as appropriate, for integrated cross-border aerial, maritime and land law enforcement operations.”

The bill also calls for U.S. officers to operate in Canada, and for Canadian officers to operate in the U.S., “for the purpose of enhancing border security or law enforcement co-operation or operations, including for the purposes of conducting operations in the land, air and maritime domain.”

The Elbow people will be incensed.

LILLEY: Is Carney ready to surrender Canada’s auto industry?

It seemed like a nice meeting, albeit with few tangible results, when Mark Carney met with Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday. Yet, what may come of that meeting could be a major overhaul of the Canadian economy.

Apparently, Carney talked about reviving the Keystone XL pipeline as part of his discussions with Trump. He also raised the issue of critical minerals with the American president, but there is one industry feeling left out and concerned — the auto industry.

L.A. County considers declaring state of emergency to fight back against ICE raids

As the Trump administration continues its immigration crackdown in Southern California, the L.A. County Board of Supervisors is considering issuing a state of emergency to provide the board with more power to assist those affected by the deluge of detainments and deportations.

“This escalation [in raids] puts thousands of our neighbors in extreme peril, so I believe we need to act now,” said Supervisor Lindsey Horvath, asserting that the declaration is necessary “to give us every tool available to fight back.”

California is determined to destroy itself.

Kristi Noem compares antifa to MS-13, Hamas, Hezbollah and the Islamic State

The homeland security secretary, Kristi Noem, on Wednesday compared antifa to MS-13, Hamas, Hezbollah and the Islamic State, calling the loosely affiliated network of antifascist street activists “just as dangerous” as designated terrorist organizations during a White House roundtable discussion.

“They are just as sophisticated as MS-13, as TDA [Tren de Aragua], as Isis, as Hezbollah, as Hamas, as all of them, they are just as dangerous,” Noem said. “They have an agenda to destroy us, just like the other terrorists we’ve dealt with for many, many years.”

The roundtable featured rightwing social media journalists such as Andy Ngo, Nick Sortor, Katie Daviscourt and others who cover leftwing protests.

Lutnick dismisses any prospect of auto deal between U.S. and Canada: sources

U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick is dismissing any prospect of a comprehensive auto deal with Canada, according to three sources in the room when he made the comments.

Lutnick made the comments during a discussion under Chatham House Rules at the Eurasia Group’s Canada-U.S. Summit in Toronto on Wednesday, one day after the second in-person meeting in Washington between U.S. President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Mark Carney.

According to the sources, Lutnick said the U.S. could continue buying parts from Canada, “but that’s about it.”

This will gut jobs in Ontario, how many may remain for parts mfg and export I do not know.

Trump told the US autoworkers he would bring back production during his election campaign.

I think that’s why he threw the race to Carney. Better optics to beat up on a Liberal than a Conservative.

Trump mocks ‘woke’ transgender ideology in meeting with Mark Carney

U.S. President Donald Trump did not hold back during an in-person meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney today, openly blasting the “woke” extreme transgender ideology of men in women’s sports and genital mutilation surgery of minors.

“We have no men’s and women’s sports. I mean, basic things. We’re not going to take your child away and change the sex of your child,” he told Carney in the White House.

A Writer’s Take on the State of the American Left Should Send Chills Down the Spines of Libs

You might not like some of the language he uses, but Noah Smith’s lengthy take on the state of American politics is worth a read. It’s not drivel spewed on Salon or MSNBC. It’s a fair take on the MAGA movement and the structural and political disadvantages of the Left, which aren’t going away if they keep this destructive march on most of their action items. Smith concedes there are kernels of truth to the ‘great replacement theory,’ noting the changes in California’s politics. Again, you might not agree with the authoritarian observations he makes about the MAGA movement, but he also slaps down the notion that this is some fascistic plot.

Canada must come ‘second’ to U.S. in auto sector, Howard Lutnick warns behind closed doors

Canada will not achieve a free trade deal with no American tariffs, and must settle with coming “second” to America when it comes to the auto sector, according to U.S. President Donald Trump’s point man on trade.

Appearing virtually, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick bluntly told an audience at a Canada-U.S. conference in Toronto on Wednesday that the United States is determined to dominate the car-making industry.

According to five sources who were in the room for the discussion, which was held under the ”Chatham House Rule” that bars reporters and media coverage, Lutnick said Canada has to consider the “big picture” and realize that it could be in an excellent place, but that trade between the two countries is never going back to the way it used to be under three decades of free trade agreements.

Carney raised Keystone XL pipeline revival in meeting with Trump

Relief for Canada from U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum may come thanks to renewed interest in a pipeline project first proposed more than 15 years ago.

Prime Minister Mark Carney raised the Keystone XL oil pipeline, which would run from northern Alberta to the U.S. Midwest, during his conversations with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday, according to a source with direct knowledge of the meeting.

The source said Carney expressed renewed national interest in the pipeline from the Canadian side and the U.S. president was receptive to the project advancing.

You know the panic is real when CBC mentions Oil in a positive way to bolster Carney.

Carney and Trump: A Collision Avoided, Save for a Nasty Comment or Two

Prime Minister Mark Carney of Canada arrived at the White House on Tuesday with a few clear objectives: to take heat out of his early encounters with President Trump, to avoid references to Canada becoming a 51st state, and to begin talks on steel and aluminum tariffs.

In other words, to revert to the old days, when Canada and the United States were the tightest of defense and intelligence allies, and somehow managed to keep their disputes over everything from dairy products to softwood lumber to automobiles on a separate track.
