‘Unplanned’ outages hit Texas power plants in soaring temperatures

Officials with Texas’ power grid operator pleaded with residents Monday to limit their electrical usage amid soaring temperatures and a series of mechanical problems at power plants.

The appeal, from the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, or ERCOT, comes four months after deadly blackouts during a winter storm left millions of people without power — and weeks after state legislators passed a package of measures aimed at fixing some of the problems exposed by the storm.

Japanese Power Concerns Call for Energy-Saving Measures During Cold Snap

Damn you, global warming!:

The Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan has called for cooperation for power saving as the supply-demand balance becomes tight amid a cold snap hitting the country.

The industry group said Sunday on its website that it wants customers to cooperate for efficient power consumption by continuing to use heating equipment amid the cold wave while curbing the use of other electric appliances.

Electricity demand for heating has been increasing recently as cold weather continues to hit many regions of the country. In seven regions, mainly in western Japan, on Friday, maximum power demand surpassed the levels believed to be seen once in about 10 years, the federation said.

Meanwhile, there have been days when the amount of electricity generated with solar energy dropped due to bad weather, according to the group.

Bill Gates’ baboonish plan to play around with the sun’s rays begins

De-population guru, Bill Gates, among others, is backing the Harvard Stratospheric Controlled Perturbation Experiment to engineer the sun’s rays. The SCoPEx, Stratospheric Controlled Perturbation Experiment, is researching a form of “geoengineering” to prevent global warming. They want to spray tiny particles into the air to reflect sunlight and make the earth cooler. Then they’ll fly balloons 12 miles above Sweden to gather data.

China Is Rolling Out An Enormous “Weather Modification” System

This week, the Chinese government announced that it plans to drastically increase its use of technology that artificially changes the weather.

Cloud seeding technology, or systems that can blasts silver molecules into the sky to prompt condensation and cloud formation, has been around for decades, and China makes frequent use of it. But now, CNN reports that China wants to increase the total size of its weather modification test area to 5.5 million square miles by 2025 — a huge increase, and an area larger than that of the entire country of India, which could affect the environment on an epic scale and even potentially spur conflict with nearby countries.
