Why is King Charles in Canada, and what is the throne speech?

The pomp and pageantry will be on full display when King Charles arrives in Canada for the first time since his coronation.

He is due to deliver the Speech from the Throne to open the 45th session of Canada’s parliament in Ottawa on Tuesday.

The King is the head of state of Canada – and of 13 other Commonwealth realms such as Australia, New Zealand and several Caribbean states – as well as the UK.

Charles has brought dignity back to the throne.

‘It’s all about symbolism’: The tight-lipped Royal Family is sending a message with its trip to Canada

OTTAWA — As an institution that has for centuries employed symbolism with surgical precision, the timing of the King’s visit to Canada may be more revealing than the itinerary itself.

It’s considered a core principle of the British constitutional monarchy that the ceremonial head of state of the United Kingdom, Canada and other Commonwealth countries not comment on or become directly involved in politics. It’s also a key component in trying to maintain the public’s trust.

King’s big moment in Canada after Trump row

“This is a big deal for the King to do this,” says Jeremy Kinsman, former Canadian high commissioner to the UK, as King Charles prepares for a historic visit showing support for Canada, which is facing pressure from US President Donald Trump.

“I hope that Trump understands,” says Mr Kinsman, ahead of the King becoming the first monarch to open Canada’s Parliament in almost 70 years.

So what can we expect from his speech as Canada’s head of state, to be delivered in French and English in Ottawa on Tuesday?

I don’t think Woke King Charlie is the flex they imagine.

Prince Harry’s popularity sinks after BBC interview attacking King

The Duke of Sussex’s popularity in the UK has plunged after a BBC interview in which he claimed the King refused to speak to him.

A new YouGov poll revealed Prince Harry’s favourability rating had dropped to 27 per cent, its lowest for more than two years.

The Duchess of Sussex has also seen her popularity drop to 20 per cent, its lowest since YouGov began tracking it in 2017, the year before she married into the Royal family.

Carney inexplicably insults King Charles and President Trump

Carney says Canadians ‘weren’t impressed’ by U.K.’s offer of second state visit to Trump

Prime Minister Mark Carney says Canadians “weren’t impressed” when the U.K. decided to offer U.S. President Donald Trump an unprecedented second state visit while he was threatening Canada’s sovereignty.

“To be frank, they weren’t impressed by that gesture, quite simply, given the circumstance,” Carney told British news channel Sky News in an interview posted online Wednesday.

“It was at a time when we were being quite clear, some of us were being quite clear, about the issues around sovereignty.”

That was a stupid move by Carney.

Woman claims Meghan Markle’s bath salts gave her ‘catastrophic burns’ threatens to sue the douchess for $10m

A woman is threatening to sue Meghan Markle for $10million (£8million) after claiming she suffered ‘catastrophic burns’ after trying out the homemade bath salts recipe from her Netflix show, it was revealed today.

Ms Patrick, a diabetic from Maryland, claims that she suffered 18 burns, still has ulcers and claims her body still feels like it is ‘burning from within’– after following Meghan’s recipe in March.

Prince Harry is pleading for reconciliation — but the royals are just as sick of his victimhood as everyone else

Hard Done By Prince

Prince Harry is ready to reconcile with his family.

You know those apparently racist pigs who have deliberately tried to trap him and his family. The father who didn’t hug him. The brother and sister-in-law who basically tied him up and dressed him in Nazi garb. And yes, that same brother who “assaulted” him, tossing him onto a dog bowl.

To those rotten folks, the benevolent Prince Harry will see you now. After publicly airing enough grievances for two decades worth of Festivuses, he’s ready to mend fences.

Harry’s return to royal fold now impossible after dramatic interview

Two weeks ago, a Telegraph reader wrote in to ask: “What will it take for this rift between the King and Prince Harry to end?”

Back then, the answer seemed straightforward. When the security court case was over, whether the Duke of Sussex won or lost, there was a world in which they could conceivably talk again.

When the dust settled, whether the Duke was vindicated or at least felt he had tried his best, it was fractionally possible that father and son could reconnect – without leaks, without showdowns, without fears of jeopardising a Court of Appeal case in which the King must be scrupulously uninvolved.

Anger grows at Prince Harry for saying ‘I don’t know how much longer’ cancer-battling King Charles, 76, has left to live as royal ‘blows his chance of reconciliation with his father’

Prince Harry faces criticism for sparking speculation surrounding His Majesty’s health after saying he didn’t ‘know how much longer’ his 76-year-old father, King Charles, has left to live.

In a bombshell interview with the BBC, the Duke of Sussex, 40, revealed he wanted to reconcile with the royals, while alleging his father, the monarch, was not currently speaking to him.

It comes after Prince Harry lost his legal challenge over his UK security arrangements at the Court of Appeal. The Duke could potentially appeal the decision, which would then put it in the hands of the Supreme Court.

Prince Harry loses security appeal

The Duke of Sussex has lost his appeal against the Government over his security.

Prince Harry argued that he was singled out for “unjustified and inferior treatment” when he was denied the right to automatic police protection in the UK.

He flew to London last month to attend a two-day hearing at the Court of Appeal, during which his barrister argued that the Home Office committee responsible for VIP security arrangements had failed to adhere to its own policies.

Virginia Giuffre’s suicide draws line under Prince Andrew’s hopes of redemption

The death of Virginia Giuffre brings to a tragic close the most unedifying and damaging royal scandal in living memory.

Ms Giuffre, who has died by suicide at her farm in Australia, will be remembered as the determined survivor of sex trafficking and abuse who helped to catalyse the downfall of Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell and, in the court of public opinion, the Duke of York.

King Charles’ Easter Message Accelerates Britain’s Fall

The King’s anti-Christian statement and mass arrests for those voicing unfashionable opinions are ugly signs of Britain’s rapid decline.

“Tis the times’ plague, when madmen lead the blind.”
William Shakespeare, King Lear

Last Friday marked the 250th anniversary of the Shot Heard Round the World. This was the first musket shot of the American Revolution, fired across the old North Bridge near Lexington. No one knows who shot first, the British regiment on one side of the bridge or the Minute Men on the other. But everyone knows what came of it — the birth of a great nation and the perseverance of another. Today, America is still rising after twice this century rejecting malevolent suicidal leadership. While Great Britain embraced it and is thus collapsing fast.
But there is a difference to the current UK ruling Liberal Party — and Christians are getting the worst of it.

A bad King.

Dopey King Charles panders to Islamic cult in Easter message

King praises Judaism and Islam in Easter message

The King has praised the ethics of Judaism and the human instinct of Islam in his Easter message.

In a message issued on Maundy Thursday, the King wished the public a “blessed and peaceful Easter”, saying the greatest virtue the world needs is “love”.

On Thursday, he and the Queen will join the congregation at Durham Cathedral for a service before he distributes “Maundy Money”, a longstanding royal tradition.

I see the end of the Monarchy as a genuine possibility in our lifetime.

‘You can’t have your cake and eat it, Harry’

A Telegraph poll reveals most voters are not in favour of taxpayer-funded security for the Duke of Sussex.

The Duke returned to London on Sunday to attend a two-day hearing at the Royal Courts of Justice to win automatic state security for him and his family.

The Duke has argued that he was “singled out for different, unjustified and inferior treatment” when he was denied the right to automatic police protection after quitting public duties.
