NBC report on Ma’Khia Bryant shooting doesn’t show the knife in her hand for some reason

… Nicholas Fondacaro of the Media Research Center made a nice catch with this NBC News report on the shooting last night. Instead of just freeze-framing the knife to show viewers that Bryant was attacking, NBC attributed the claim to police: Police say that Bryant had a knife in her hand and a knife was found next to her after she fell. That leaves the viewer with a bit of unwarranted doubt about what Bryant was doing when she lunged at the girl in pink in the clip. Was she maybe just throwing a punch, and the knife fell out of her back pocket after she was shot?

She sounds like a charmer!

FBI Determined That the Attempted Massacre of GOP Lawmakers in 2017 Was ‘Suicide By Cop’

The FBI privately informed lawmakers in November of 2017 that the attempted massacre of GOP lawmakers on an Alexandria, Virginia baseball field that June was a “suicide by cop,” a GOP congressman revealed last week. House approves bill to make DC a state

The House, in a party-line vote on Thursday, approved legislation to make Washington, D.C., the 51st state in the nation, sending the bill to the Senate.

It’s the second time the House has approved such legislation in two years, but the statehood bill, long a goal for the nation’s capital, faces an uphill climb in a Senate evenly divided between the two parties.

Winning a vote in the Senate would likely require ending the filibuster that requires most legislation to clear a 60-vote hurdle. Even then, not all 50 Democrats in the Senate back making D.C. a state.

But most of the instructions are listed under five orders “for white people in particular.”

Jane Austen’s tea drinking will face ‘historical interrogation’ over slavery links

Jane Austen’s tea drinking will be subjected to “historical interrogation” over its slavery links, the director of a museum dedicated to the author has said.

The writer’s cottage in the Hampshire village of Chawton, where she wrote Emma and Mansfield Park before her death in 1817, is now a museum and place of “Janeite” pilgrimage dedicated to her life and work.

Staff at the museum are now re-evaluating Jane Austen’s place in “Regency-era colonialism” in the wake of Black Lives Matter protests.
