Julie Payette resigned from her role as governor general more than two months ago following a scathing review into allegations of workplace bullying, but there is still no clarity on whether taxpayers will be paying for expenses she may incur going forward.
While the process is now underway to find her replacement, it appears the government has yet to resolve whether Payette should get the taxpayer-funded expense account traditionally granted to former governors general. She also gets a lifelong annuity worth roughly $150,000.
Archbishop of Sweden Takes a Break From Twitter Over ‘Hatred and Threats’
Archbishop of Sweden Antje Jackelén has announced she will take a break from Twitter after what she describes as “lies, threats and hatred” directed at both her personally and the Church of Sweden as an organisation.
According to Jackelén, her tweets are also misused to fuel “pure conspiracy theories”.
“I am described as ‘scum’ and a ‘crazy b***h’, and it feels extra hard to handle this now amid a pandemic when you are often alone. It’s like poison arrows being fired at you, but you don’t really know when they will come,” Antje Jackelén told the newspaper Dagens Nyheter.

The Nation of Islam says that the 25-year-old mentally disturbed man who rammed his car into a barricade at the US Capitol on Friday and killed a policeman was a ‘brother with such great potential.’
The Chicago-based organization released a statement on Tuesday distancing itself from the crime, saying that ‘we absolutely disavow this act that resulted in the senseless loss of life.’
Noah Green was shot and killed by Capitol Police following the attack, which happened shortly after 1pm on Friday.
