A couple of weeks into September, Dara was driving her son home from his new middle school, happy he seemed to be settling into Grade 7, when the 13-year-old made a startling confession: He was petrified of using the school washroom.

“There are bullies in there; there are kids vaping,” the Mississauga mom recalls him telling her in the car last fall. The teen had already witnessed several fights. He described damaged toilets and sinks, deliberately clogged and overflowing.

I wonder how our diverse youth will react to the cell phone ban.

Statistics Canada (Stat Can) data shows real gross domestic product (GDP) grew more than expected in Q2 2024. Stop testing children on times tables, lighten up on grammar teacher’s unions tell ministers

Times tables tests should be scrapped and grammar exams “stripped back”, teaching unions are urging the Government.

Ministers are being urged to cut down the number of tests in primary schools, which unions say lead to high levels of anxiety in children.

Tests on times tables are compulsory for all Year Four pupils at state schools in England.

Teacher’s Unions are dedicated to making children stupid.

First transgender manager ignites row by signing biologically male goalkeeper for women’s team

Sutton United, who this year appointed Lucy Clark as the first transgender manager in the top five tiers of the English female game, have ignited controversy by signing a biologically male goalkeeper for their women’s team.

Blair Hamilton, 34, has been recruited by Clark despite having previously drawn criticism from women’s rights groups for taking the place of a female goalkeeper. Sharron Davies, the former Olympic silver medallist and long-standing advocate for fairness for women in sport, described Sutton’s move as “shameful”.

University cancels Anglo-Saxon ‘to decolonise’ the curriculum

Masters course renamed as academics worry term suggests ‘nationalist narratives’

The term Anglo-Saxon has been removed from a University’s module titles to tackle “nationalist narratives”.

The University of Nottingham offers leading courses in Anglo-Saxon history and literature and is the only university in the country to offer a Viking Studies course.

But in a move to “decolonise the curriculum”, professors have renamed a masters course in Viking and Anglo-Saxon Studies as Viking and Early Medieval English Studies.
