France: Ethnic gang assaults whites

A dance evening, the ‘farmers’ ball”, was held on Saturday evening in the Murinais ballroom organised by young farmers from Saint-Marcellin and Pont-en-Royans.

An initial brawl broke out outside the hall between two men who had just come from the party and half a dozen others who were outside, all of them young people from Saint-Marcellin. As other people came out of the hall to aid their two friends, their opponents were pushed back and they fled.

Opposition set to amend election bill to curb MP pension eligibility

An attempt by the Liberals to avoid holding the 2025 federal election on a date that conflicts with a religious festival appears set to be overruled by the Opposition, following claims that the new date sets up a financial conflict of interest for MPs first elected in 2019.

The current election law says that unless Parliament is dissolved early, the next federal election “must be held on the third Monday of October in the fourth calendar year following polling day for the last general election” — Monday, October 20, 2025.

It’s all about the pensions.

Star provides road map for PM: Criticizing Israel is Trudeau’s key to win the next election

Why did the Star change their headline?

On Israel, Justin Trudeau has found himself

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has found himself.

For a while, he was lost. But the Gaza war has given him an issue he can get his teeth into.

For much of the last year, Gaza and the Hamas war were seen in Liberal party circles as problems the prime minister would do well to ignore. That’s because they highlighted the fundamental split over Israel that bedevils the party.

If the government criticized Israel, it was called antisemitic. If it didn’t it was called anti-Islamic.

North Korea to stop flying poop-filled balloons south

A great victory for North Korea!

After sending hundreds of balloons loaded with trash and excrement across the border into South Korea, North Korean officials said on Sunday the effort would be halted.

“We will temporarily suspend the action of scattering waste paper beyond the border,” said the official Korean Central News Agency. “This is because our action is a thorough countermeasure.”

They warned that the balloons would fly south again if Seoul sent any anti-North Korean leaflets northwards.

Black scholars criticize white writer’s ‘dehumanizing’ use of blackface to write book on U.S. race relations

A Canadian journalist is defending his decision to travel the U.S. in blackface and write a book about racism, after facing a storm of criticism online.

“Last summer, I disguised myself as a Black man and traveled throughout the United States to document how racism persists in American society,” Sam Forster, who is white, posted Tuesday on X, formerly Twitter. “Writing Seven Shoulders was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done as a journalist.”

The reaction was swift and brutal, with X users expressing anger, amusement and confusion, and telling Forster he should have simply spoken to Black people to understand their experiences.
