In every episode, he has exciting adventures with his female sidekick and often saves mankind from bad aliens. The original show was retired in 1983, only to be rebooted in 2005. Along the way, the Doctor periodically “regenerated,” allowing new actors to replace the old ones. The latest regeneration is a woke, black, gay guy. When audiences felt he failed in Dr. Who-ness, he told them not to watch…and it appears that 50% of them promptly turned off their sets.

It’s not a topic of conversation in English Canada. The man convicted of attempting to kidnap then-U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and attacking her husband with a hammer was sentenced Friday to 30 years in prison.
Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley handed down the sentence for David DePape, 44, whom jurors found guilty last November of attempted kidnapping of a federal official and assault on the immediate family member of a federal official. Prosecutors had asked for a 40-year prison term.

“Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Thursday that Canadian conservative leaders are as much of a threat to women’s right to a safe abortion as the rollback of the landmark Roe v. Wade court decision was in the United States,” the Toronto Star reported this week. I was disbelieving. Even by the standards of Trudeauvian hyperbole and Canada’s kabuki abortion politics, that would be a hall-of-fame howler.
