Doug Ford raises concerns about ‘sleeper cells’ in wake of U.S. Consulate shooting

Premier Doug Ford says that the shooting of the U.S. Consulate in downtown Toronto is “absolutely unacceptable” and he is warning those responsible will “face the full extent of the law.”

Ford made the comment to reporters at Queen’s Park on Tuesday morning, hours after two suspects reportedly exited an SUV on University Avenue and proceeded to discharge at least one firearm at the exterior of the consulate building.

Canada restricts drug boat intel from U.S. Navy’s Caribbean airstrike operation

The Department of National Defence says it has safeguards in place to prevent intelligence from being shared with elements of the U.S. military that have carried out numerous lethal strikes on small boats in the Caribbean.

In a statement to CBC News, the department said that intelligence gathered during Operation Caribbe is “restricted” to the joint interagency task force running the operation and its partners, and is “caveated to not share with any elements of Operation Southern Spear.”

U.S. Consulate in downtown Toronto hit by gunfire

Road closures are in place in Toronto’s downtown core after police say someone discharged a firearm at the U.S. Consulate early Tuesday morning.

Investigators say shots were fired at the building, located near University Avenue and Queen Street West, at around 5:30 a.m.

It’s a fairly formidable building and the area must be covered in cameras.

Number of Ontarians taking stimulants more than doubled after pandemic, study finds

The number of adults in Ontario who started taking stimulants, mainly to treat ADHD, more than doubled in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a new study that found women were the most frequent new consumers of medications once taken mostly by hyperactive boys.

The research, published Monday in the Canadian Medical Association Journal, showed that more than 220,000 adults in Ontario filled a new prescription for a stimulant such as Vyvanse or Concerta in the four years after March, 2020, up from about 107,000 in the four years beforehand.
