BBC editor ‘helped Somali criminals fight deportation’

A BBC editor has been hired as an expert witness to help at least 15 Somalian criminals including rapists fight their deportation.

Mary Harper, Africa editor for the World Service, has been criticised by judges over the objectivity and accuracy of her evidence in some of the cases.

Harper has given evidence in asylum cases dating back to 2013. Seven of the known cases resulted in the refugee being permitted to remain in the UK. Expert witnesses can be paid up to £2,500 for producing a report in cases funded by legal aid. Judges twice questioned Harper’s objectivity and in a third case described her evidence as “speculative”.

NHL Reveals Itself To Be On Team Hamas

WARMINGTON: Anthem singer dons pro-Palestinian attire at NHL All-Star Game

The NHL has yet to comment on how a singer wearing pro-Palestinian colours, and with a history of anti-Israel rants, performed the American national anthem at the All-Star Game in Toronto Saturday.

But that hasn’t stopped others from commenting on how American pop star Kiana Lede used the NHL game to show her support for the Palestine side of the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

I wish I could boycott the NHL but I haven’t paid attention in years.

Dead people should be able to change their gender, says Labour MP

A Labour MP has called for the law to be changed so that transgender people can have their gender changed posthumously in official records.

In a written question to Parliament last month, Charlotte Nichols, the party’s representative for Warrington North, asked if the Gender Recognition Act (GRA) 2004 could be changed “to allow transgender people who are deceased to be legally remembered by the gender they lived by”.

More than 100 of them are still being held captive.

VERNON, B.C. – B.C. Premier David Eby says Post-Secondary Education Minister Selina Robinson needs to “repair the damage” caused by her comments that Israel was founded on a “crappy piece of land,” angering pro-Palestinian groups and triggering calls for her resignation.

Eby says the remarks were “totally unacceptable,” and “increase division” in the province at a time when people of Palestinian descent are feeling alienated.

Robinson apologized in a social media post on Thursday, saying her comments were “disrespectful,” and she had been referring to the land having limited natural resources.

A teenager who is a convicted rapist has been allowed to return to high school and parents were not told about it. The student in this case is 15-years-old and just last month was convicted of having sex with a minor child last year, a member of his own family.
