Cats sleeping with dogs! Nazis training with POC! CBC tracks Canada’s fascist fight clubs

In public parks, gyms and martial arts clubs — where children take classes — some of Canada’s most notorious white supremacists are preparing for violence.

The members of these fight clubs, known in white nationalist communities as “active clubs,” are hiding in plain sight. As part of their recruitment and online propaganda, they post videos of their training sessions, taking care to hide their faces and obscure their locations.

But a months-long CBC visual investigation, in collaboration with The Fifth Estate, reveals exactly where some of these groups are training.

‘This is not me’: Trump denies writing ‘lewd birthday letter’ to Epstein

Donald Trump reportedly told Jeffrey Epstein they had “certain things in common” in a birthday letter featuring a drawing of a naked woman.

The document was included in a leather-bound album by Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former girlfriend, which was later examined by justice department officials investigating the paedophile financier, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Mr Trump’s letter to Epstein is said to be typewritten text framed by the outline of a naked woman which has been drawn in permanent marker. His signature is reportedly positioned below her waist, mimicking her pubic hair.

New report says Ottawa to blame for higher consumer prices after spending splurge

The Trudeau government’s spending splurges — less than Bank of Canada interest rate policies — were largely responsible for soaring inflation during the pandemic, a new report has concluded.

The report, conducted by two economists at the C.D. Howe Institute, points the finger at Ottawa’s unfunded spending spree that acted as “helicopter drops” of money for the private sector.

Talking freely about Islam ‘feared more than any other religion’

People are more fearful of speaking freely about Islam than any other religion, a survey has found.

Almost twice as many adults feel they have to hold back on expressing their views about the faith as they do for Christianity, according to research by the Commission for Countering Extremism (CCE), which advises the Government.

The study, to be published on Thursday, also found that Islam was the only religion which more people felt was protected “too much” rather than “too little”.

Contractors stiffed for millions in completed work by NextStar EV battery plant that Ontario & Federal governments propped up with $15B in tax breaks

Multiple Canadian contractors that have helped build a sprawling, taxpayer-supported electric vehicle (EV) battery plant in southwestern Ontario allege they haven’t been paid for millions of dollars worth of work, court records show.

Lawsuits between companies on complex projects like the NextStar Energy plant in Windsor aren’t abnormal, according to a veteran construction lawyer.

… But Sylvan Canada, one of the firms that has now resorted to legal action, says its experience on the $5-billion project was far from business as usual.

Justice or ideology? ‘Alberta court’s ‘gender’ ruling ignores evidence and common sense.’

Last November, the Alberta Medical Association (AMA) released a statement taking aim at the Smith government for its new legislation banning puberty blockers and hormone therapy for trans-identifying youth. The AMA stated, among other things: “There is no place for the government in the medical decisions being made by parents and their children in conjunction with physicians.”

In an ideal world, the AMA would be absolutely correct — just as in an ideal world there would be no hunger, poverty, discrimination or violence.

Joy Reid got into it with Piers Morgan after being asked about her firing from MSNBC and why she has repeatedly played ‘the race card.’

Morgan, on his YouTube show Thursday, had asked whether she really believed race played a part.

‘Now Joy. Look, let’s be honest. I don’t think you were fired after all those years because of your skin color. Or because you’re a black woman,’ the British journalist told his guest.

Ottawa’s Cost-Cutting Drive: What Could Be on the Chopping Block?

Ottawa is embarking on a cost-cutting exercise amid ramped-up defence spending and mounting debt, and the talk of town is which sectors could potentially be trimmed down.

The Liberals won the election on a pledge to rebuild the armed forces while at the same time not cutting social programs, and they are now trying to find efficiencies along those lines.

Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne recently sent letters to cabinet members requesting they put forth “ambitious savings proposals” that would lead to operational spending falling by 7.5 percent for the 2026–27 fiscal year. That would be followed by 10 percent cuts in the following year and 15 percent in 2028–29.

In the latest staff analytical note, the bank says that although mortgage interest rates are expected to gradually decline, most borrowers will still see payment increases relative to their current contracts — many of which were signed during periods of lower interest rates.

The report estimates that in 2025, homeowners renewing their mortgages will see an average increase of 10 per cent in their monthly payments compared to December 2024 levels.
