Russia may attack Nato in next four years, German defence chief warns

Members of the Western alliance Nato need to prepare for a possible attack from Russia within the next four years, according to Germany’s chief of defence.

General Carsten Breuer told the BBC that Russia was producing hundreds of tanks a year, many of which could be used for an attack on Nato Baltic state members by 2029 or even earlier.

He also insisted that Nato, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, remains unified over the war in Ukraine, despite differences of opinion expressed recently by both Hungary and Slovakia.

Invite them to invade Poland then invade Russia!

First Nations threaten highway blockages over Ford government’s Bill 5

Indian Money Dance

The leader of an Ontario First Nation is warning the Ford government it could face lawsuits, protests and disruptions of major Toronto-area highways if the province passes the controversial Bill 5 into law.

The legislation, which critics say gives the premier and his cabinet extraordinary powers to create “no law zones” across Ontario, is set to be fast-tracked this week before MPPs break for the summer.

Huckabee Demands NYT, CNN, AP Retract Fake News Stories on Gaza Aid Deaths

U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee demanded Monday that the New York Times, CNN, and the Associated Press, among others, retract false reporting that Israeli soldiers killed Palestinian civilians at an American aid site in Gaza.

Huckabee linked the fake news published by these outlets directly to the antisemitic terror attack Sunday in Boulder, Colorado, where an illegal alien shouting pro-Palestinian slogans set Jewish protesters on fire.

Defence closes. Four of five players decline to testify at Hockey Canada sex assault trial

The complainant in the Hockey Canada sexual assault case “was actually quite upset” when a London, Ont., police detective broke the news to her in 2022 that the force was taking a second look at its initial investigation that had led to no criminal charges, the detective testified Monday as the high-profile trial wrapped up.

“I felt pretty bad because it felt like … I got the sense that I was opening up some wounds that she was trying to close,” said Det. Lyndsey Ryan, who was tasked in the summer of 2022 with leading the reopened probe.

“I think it was a bit overwhelming. She wasn’t expecting this.”

The Trump administration has already permanently damaged Harvard

Harvard University is in crisis. The Trump administration has gone for the jugular, attempting to cut off the flow of federal funds. Perhaps most importantly, it has sought to cut this prestigious university off from its economic lifeblood: international students.

But this crisis is largely one of Harvard’s own making. It could have made an effort to avoid having a monolithically progressive campus culture that fostered savage behavior and terrorist sympathies in corners of the student body. It could have worked to ensure that it was not overly reliant on federal funding for its research endeavors and that the university’s financial stability was not contingent upon accepting thousands of international students who are willing to pay full tuition.

Is it known for anything beyond the manufacture of progressives assholes?

Hospital alleges its floors aren’t flat, files $100M lawsuit against builder

Humber River Health is suing the consortium contracted to build and maintain its Toronto hospital for $100 million, alleging that negligent design and construction is creating health and safety problems for patients and staff.

The lawsuit, filed in early April, alleges that a “sizable portion” of the hospital’s floors are not level or flat and that some of the flooring itself is deteriorating.

“Floor levelness is a critical operational and safety issue,” reads Humber River Health’s claim, filed in Ontario Superior Court.

Can’t build subway lines, can’t build streetcar lines, can’t build hospitals, can build a fancy eco barn! Is it graft? Is it societal decline?

Orbán and Le Pen cheer Karol Nawrocki’s election as Polish president

Far-right leaders in Europe have welcomed the victory of the nationalist opposition candidate, Karol Nawrocki, in Poland’s presidential elections, a result that deals a huge blow to the centre-right prime minister Donald Tusk’s reform and pro-EU agenda.

Nawrocki, a conservative historian and former amateur boxer, won Sunday’s election with 50.89% of the vote, final figures showed on Monday, ahead of his rival, Rafał Trzaskowski, the liberal Warsaw mayor and an ally of Tusk, who secured 49.11%.

“Congratulations to President @NawrockiKn on his fantastic victory,” Hungary’s illiberal prime minister, Viktor Orbán, posted on social media, adding that he was “looking forward to working” with the 42-year-old, who has never held elected office.

Oh no! It’s those scary far-right leaders again!

Michael Bonner: It’s time to totally overhaul Canada’s immigration system

So many people want to immigrate to Canada that we can hardly accommodate them all. Our big cities feel cramped, social services are strained, and homeownership is increasingly out of reach for those below the age of 40.

But perhaps the surest proof of too many newcomers is this: 18 percent of all immigrants leave Canada within 25 years and don’t return. Surprisingly, half of those who leave are economic immigrants who were selected because they had skills that our country needs and because they had secured high-wage jobs before arriving here. This phenomenon was analyzed in a 2024 study by the Conference Board of Canada called “The Leaky Bucket.” The study concluded that so many immigrants leave because they have not formed a permanent economic or cultural attachment to Canada, they find better opportunities elsewhere, and the number of annual departures is growing.

Courts ‘reviving blasphemy laws’ after convicting man who burned Koran

British courts have been accused of reviving blasphemy laws after a man who set fire to a copy of the Koran was convicted of a racially aggravated public order offence.

Hamit Coskun shouted “f— Islam” and “Islam is religion of terrorism” while holding the religious text above his head during a protest on Feb 13.

The 50-year-old, who was violently attacked by a passerby during the demonstration in London, went on trial last week, accused of an offence under the Public Order Act.

Secret Syrian intelligence files show missing US journalist was imprisoned by Assad regime

Top secret intelligence files uncovered by the BBC confirm for the first time that missing American journalist Austin Tice was imprisoned by the regime of the now-deposed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Former Syrian officials have also confirmed Mr Tice’s detention to the BBC.

The US government has previously stated that it believed he had been held by the Syrian government, but the Assad regime continuously denied this, and nothing was known about the details of his detention.

Five Things to Know About Assisted Dying in Canada

Canada’s MAID law, which expanded the right to die to people without a terminal illness, raises ethical and medical dilemmas.

In 2023, one out of 20 Canadians who died received a physician-assisted death, making Canada the No. 1 provider of medical assistance in dying (MAID) in the world, when measured in total figures. In one province, Quebec, there were more MAID deaths per capita than anywhere else. Canadians, by and large, have been supportive of this trend. A 2022 poll showed that a stunning 86 percent of Canadians supported MAID’s legalization.

But in some corners, MAID has been the subject of a growing unease. While MAID in Canada was initially restricted to patients with terminal conditions — people whose natural deaths were “reasonably foreseeable” — the law was controversially amended in 2021 to include people who were suffering but who weren’t actually dying: patients who might have many years or even decades of life ahead of them. This new category includes people with chronic pain and physical disabilities.

Leaked medical report proves Imane Khelif the Mohammedan cross-dresser who likes to beat up women is a biological male

Imane Khelif’s sex-test results from the 2023 World Championships have been published for the first time, with the medical report appearing to indicate that the boxer is biologically male.

Just 36 hours after World Boxing ruled that Khelif, a hugely controversial Olympic champion in women’s boxing at last summer’s Paris Games, would need to undergo sex screening to be eligible for any future appearances in the female category, the document at the heart of this extraordinary saga was released into the public domain.

Boy was I shocked.
