Trump ‘definitively’ looking at Canada becoming U.S. state: Premier Furey

The premier of Newfoundland and Labrador says he found it “incredibly concerning” to hear senior staff from U.S. President Donald Trump’s office convey that the commander-in-chief is “very serious” when he talks about annexing Canada.

“As Canadians, we need to realize that he is not joking, that he is definitively looking towards the 51st state being Canada,” Andrew Furey told CTV’s Question Period host Vassy Kapelos, in an interview airing Sunday. “He’s had a chance to change that narrative, and not only has he doubled down, I think he’s quadrupled down now on saying that.”

Germany: 2 injured by Muslim in Munich car ramming die

A 37-year-old woman and her two-year-old daughter have died two days after they were injured in a car ramming in the southern German city of Munich, officials said on Saturday.

Authorities earlier said that at least 39 people were injured in the Thursday attack, in which a car rammed into a group carrying out a token strike by the trade union Verdi.

… The mayor of Munich, Dieter Reiter, extended his condolences in a post on Instagram.

… In a video statement, he called for people commenting on the car ramming incident to express themselves “respectfully” and not to create “political propaganda” out of it.

‘It was futile’: Trudeau’s GST holiday ends with a whimper among B.C. retailers

For any money that consumers saved during the federal government’s two-month GST holiday, the economic measure “did not move the needle” as a boost to B.C. business, retailers say.

The tax holiday, unveiled by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau last November as an inflation-fighting measure to deliver “real relief at the cash register,” estimated to put $1.6 billion in consumers’ pockets, comes to an end Feb. 15.

Ohio Democrats Try to Own The Right With Bill Banning Ejaculating Without Aim To Procreate

Ohio’s “pro-choice” lawmakers believe they’re owning the Right by proposing a bill that would ban men from ejaculating during sex without the intent of making babies.

Democrat State Representatives Anita Somani and Tristan Rade are desperately trying to make some kind of gotcha argument against abortion bans by demanding men pay a fine up to $10,000 if they’re caught doing so.

Carney just hiding and changing carbon tax – not scrapping it

To their credit, reporters are asking Liberal leadership candidate Mark Carney tough questions about how much his replacement carbon tax will cost.

So far, he doesn’t seem interested in giving a clear answer.

During an announcement in Halifax, Carney said he will erase the “consumer” carbon tax and make big businesses pay it without passing on the costs to everyday people.

Tip-off thwarts flashbang grenade-wielding agents in Tren De Aragua raid

The writing scrawled across bare plaster inside the Cedar Run apartment block would become an epitaph for many who passed through it.

“In loving memory of those lost in drugland,” it read.

Drug Enforcement Agents were struck by the graffiti when they stormed the building with smoke bombs last week as part of a series of raids across Denver and Aurora, two of Colorado’s biggest cities.

Internal report urged Canada to counter rhetoric about a ‘crisis’ at border

An internal government report warned a year ago that allowing “the trend of negative rhetoric” about the security of the Canada-U.S. border could lead to a thickening of the 49th parallel, adversely affecting trade and travel.

The report, written by a diplomat at Canada’s embassy in Washington, said that failing to refute U.S. claims about a “crisis at the northern border” would lead to the erosion of Canada’s image as a secure neighbour.

The Trudeau gov’t lies about everything.

I do not believe they are telling the truth about the border and a report written by a lone Washington diplomat is hardly the last word on the matter.

Michael Higgins: Mark Carney follows Trudeau’s anti-Israel lead

If one of the requirements for Liberal leadership contenders is that they exhibit an anti-Israeli bias, then Mark Carney and Frank Baylis have delivered.

In a tweet last week, Carney said U.S. President Donald Trump’s “proposed forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza is deeply disturbing. It would violate the rights of Palestinians and international law, and it would set back efforts to promote peace and security for all in the region.” Carney said he supports a two-state solution, and that Palestinian families should receive help rebuilding their homes and their lives.

Electric Vehicles Prove To Be More Status Symbols for the Elite Than Technological Marvels

Because of their modern designs, we might be led to believe that electric cars are technological marvels. Yet, really, most of the purported conveniences and innovations of new EVs are already available in most standard gas-powered cars at a far cheaper price. EVs are, at best, a lateral technology for most consumers — if you never plan on driving in the cold or long distances, that is.

Yet, judging from the number of EV spots on television, which have increased by nearly 400 percent over the past few years, you’d think that Americans were clamoring to buy them. EV sales have risen only a fraction of the percentage since last year despite the endless good press, the endless ads, and the endless government subsidies.

The US keeps Winning! Drama Queen Tranny’s and supporters will not visit UN out of fear Trump will imprison them in GITMO or something

Canadian LGBTQ2S+ advocacy group won’t visit UN forum over concerns about U.S. border

OTTAWA — Canada’s leading LGBTQ2S+ advocacy organization is boycotting travel to the U.S. — and won’t attend an upcoming United Nations event — in response to concerns about how their members might be treated at the border under the Trump administration.

“I don’t think there’s anything more important than safeguarding my staff and our community members, and also sending a strong message to the U.S.,” said Egale Canada head Helen Kennedy.

“It was a culmination and an accumulation of legislative changes, rhetoric and discriminatory policies specifically targeting gender-diverse folks that made us make this decision.”

Another win for Trump.

Lorne Gunter: Carney just offers more of Trudeau’s tired, destructive policies

In politics, as in psychology, it’s called projection.

When little is known about a politician, voters tend to project onto him or her those qualities and policies they themselves want most to see.

That’s the phenomenon Liberal leadership candidate Mark Carney is benefiting from. He is helping revive Liberal party fortunes because relatively little is known about what he stands for, so voters just assume he’ll be everything the detested Justin Trudeau was not.
