Democrats Stand Up for the Bureaucrats

You couldn’t invent a scene that better explains our current politics than the one last week outside the Treasury in Washington. Some genius in the Democratic Party evidently thought it a good idea to put some of the party’s most prominent faces, most notably Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, in front of the cameras to protest Elon Musk’s efforts to get inside the books of the federal government in his presidentially mandated campaign to root out inefficiency.

Picture it: The Democrats, onetime tribunes of the people, fiercely defending government employees from the taxpayers; the party of the oppressed putting it all on the line to protect federal bureaucrats from the people they’re supposed to serve.

Canada needs a more intense housing shortage, less access to medical care to fight Trump and importing masses of incompatible cultures is just the solution says Star

To successfully fight Trump, Canada needs one thing: more Canadians

Time discovers truth.

In this case, it’s a brutal one.

The federal government’s decision to cut immigration targets by 21 per cent in 2025 and 24 per cent in 2026 was a grave mistake. Alarmingly, the consequences are rearing their ugly head at the worst possible time.

By reducing immigration levels, Canada is facing the economic fight of our lives with one arm tied behind our back. This is a moment when we should be projecting strength and growth — yet, instead, we have chosen to shrink. And unfortunately for us, this policy shift is occurring at the same time as another major demographic headwind: the retirement of five million Canadians by the end of the decade.

‘Qatar is Hamas, and Hamas is Qatar’

US President Donald Trump’s recent statements regarding Qatar’s role in reaching the Israel-Hamas ceasefire-hostage deal surprised many, especially those who are familiar with the Gulf state’s longtime support for radical Islamist groups.

“Qatar is absolutely trying to help,” Trump told reporters in Washington. “I know them well, and they’re doing everything they can. Very tough situation, but they’re absolutely trying to help.”

Chrystia Freeland stopped by the Star’s newsroom, her political baggage in tow

It can’t be easy being Chrystia Freeland these days. It’s February, a particularly cold one, and she’s dragging herself all over the country — including to an audience with the Star’s editorial board on Monday morning — in pursuit of the Liberal leadership.

The pundits, rightly or wrongly, have already written her off. Mark Carney’s pockets are bulging with endorsements from Liberal heavyweights and the previously comatose Liberals are suddenly showing life in the polls on the assumption that he’s a shoo-in for the top job.

ABC News Claims Trump to Sign Order ‘Banning Black People from Halftime’ Show

Leave it to the Cackling Coven of ABC News’s The View to make the Super Bowl and the halftime show about President Trump and think they were witty about it. In their Monday reaction to the Philadelphia Eagles’ blowout win over Kansas City Chiefs, fake Republican Ana Navarro praised rapper Kendrick Lamar for his halftime performance and claimed – without evidence – that it would lead to Trump “banning black people” from performing during the halftime show.

ChatGPT boss says no thanks to Elon Musk-led $97bn bid

Sam Altman, the chief executive of OpenAI – the maker of ChatGPT – has rebuffed a $97.4bn (£78.4bn) bid to take over the firm from a consortium of investors led by Elon Musk.

Musk’s attorney, Marc Toberoff, confirmed he submitted the bid for “all assets” of the tech company to its board on Monday.

The offer is the latest twist in a longstanding battle between Musk, the world’s richest man and right hand to US President Donald Trump, and Open AI chief executive Sam Altman over the future of the start-up at the centre of the AI boom.

Carney planning to hide the carbon tax from Canadians

Liberal leadership candidate Mark Carney seems to think giving you a discount code on a new furnace or some extra insulation is the best way to help you with affordability.

And he will pay for the discounts by hitting businesses like fuel refineries and power plants with a hidden carbon tax. Of course, those businesses will just pass on the cost.

Bottom line: You still get hit with that hidden carbon tax when you buy gas or pay your bills.

Ontario man named boss of huge cross-border drug smuggling ring slipped out of Canada and into U.S. court

Behind a veil of secrecy, an Ontario man named as the boss of a network of truck drivers smuggling large loads of cocaine and meth from California into Canada has given up his fight against extradition and surrendered to U.S. authorities.

Guramrit Sidhu, 61, of Brampton, west of Toronto, allegedly also known as “King,” was arrested a year ago in Ontario at the request of the United States, where he is accused of orchestrating a large-volume drug trafficking network. On Halloween, U.S. Marshalls brought Sidhu into a Los Angeles courtroom for the first time.

Republicans Target Charities Accused of Helping Migrants Skirt Immigration Laws

Republicans in Congress are seeking to crack down on nongovernmental organizations receiving millions of dollars in federal funding while helping people who violate immigration laws.

The legislation comes as religious charities have been in the spotlight for their work helping migrants in the country illegally while receiving significant sums from the federal government.

Liberals’ LNG flip-flop draws scrutiny — and ridicule — as allies look elsewhere

For years, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government has downplayed the role of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Canada’s energy future, with Trudeau himself infamously declaring in 2022 that there was “no business case” for exporting Canadian LNG.

Yet, as US president Donald Trump threatens new tariffs on Canadian products, including energy, Liberal leadership candidates and prominent cabinet ministers are now signalling a dramatic shift some critics say is long overdue while others shrug off as disingenuous and dishonest.

Yet Another CAIR Official Lets the Mask Slip

The establishment media and all too many government and law enforcement officials continued to treat the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as if it really were the neutral civil rights organization it claims to be, but it’s getting ever more difficult to sustain that façade. Too many CAIR officials keep letting the mask slip.
