NYC Mayor Adams warns migrant crisis will ‘destroy’ city, rips Biden for failing to help

Mayor Eric Adams warned that the raging migrant crisis will “destroy” New York City and tore into President Biden for ignoring his pleas for help, saying the White House has given “no support” for the thousands of asylum seekers arriving each month.

“I’m gonna tell you something, New Yorkers, never in my life have I had a problem that I didn’t see an ending to. I don’t see an ending to this,” Adams said at a town hall on the Upper West Side Wednesday night. “This issue will destroy New York City. Destroy New York City.”

They should declare themselves a sanctuary city.

Stolen Canadian cars are ending up in Africa and auto industry says not enough is being done to stop it

Vehicles stolen from Canada are increasingly ending up in Africa and the Middle East but authorities in those countries say Canada’s law enforcement agencies have not engaged them on the issue.

The vehicles, some of which still contained their Canadian registration documents, were being off-loaded through various online channels, including social media, with buyers paying close to market price.

“We’ve become a global donor in stolen vehicles,” Michael Rothe of the Canadian Financing and Leasing Association told CBC. “From our perspective, it’s a lack of enforcement.”

A lack of enforcement? Hell the police won’t even respond if you report your car stolen.

Peter C. Newman dead at age 94

Journalist Peter C. Newman went from Czech refugee to chronicler of Canada

In September, 1940, on the night before he and his parents landed at Halifax’s Pier 21, the 11-yr-old Czech war refugee Petă Neumann stayed up late to gaze out at the Atlantic and imagine the land where they were about to make their new home. It had been a harrowing months-long run from the Nazis, he later wrote: The family had secured visas mere days before they would have been deported from Venice to certain death in Czechoslovakia; lain helpless on the beach at Biarritz, France, as a Luftwaffe gunner rained death from above; and survived the U-boat torpedoing of their convoy to Canada. Ahead of them now, young Petă envisioned more adventure in the mysterious “land of eternal snow” he had seen in newsreels.

The shoplifting epidemic is a sign that Britain is on the verge of anarchy

During the pandemic, you weren’t allowed to enter a supermarket without a mask. These days, of course, there’s no need for that. Instead, you need a stab vest, a riot shield and a bulletproof helmet.

Alright, so that’s possibly an exaggeration. But not by much. Our supermarkets really do seem perilously close to anarchy. Shoplifting is surging – and staff are terrified.

It’s got so bad that Tesco is getting staff to wear body-cams, to help catch shoplifters who assault them. This is more and more common: incidents of violent behaviour towards retail employees have doubled since before the pandemic. Sainsbury’s, meanwhile, has started carrying out bag searches at its self-service tills.

LEDREW: Trudeau’s super ego party of personality

As Justin Trudeau continues his eight year mantra of declaring that he is delivering a strong economy, is successfully fighting climate change, is helping the middle class grow richer, is creating a better society, all of which more and more Canadians are realizing is just so much B.S., columnists and pundits are starting to suggest that SOMEONE tell the P.M. that he has to go, for the good of Canada, his Party, and himself.

Quebec Court of Appeal Judge Marie-Josée Hogue to lead foreign interference inquiry

Justice Marie-Josée Hogue of the Quebec Court of Appeal will chair a public inquiry into foreign interference in Canada’s elections, Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc announced Thursday.

Hogue’s first report is due Feb. 29 and her mandate will focus on alleged acts of interference by China and other states, including Russia, he said.

Former governor general David Johnston was tasked with looking into allegations that China tried to meddle in the past two federal elections. He resigned from the position in June, saying his role had become too muddled in political controversy for him to continue.

I have zero faith in this farce, it’s like asking Al Capone to investigate bootlegging.

Millennials nearly twice as likely to vote for Conservatives over Liberals, new survey suggests

If only Gen Z and Millennials voted today, Justin Trudeau’s Liberals would fall to third-party status, a new Abacus Data survey found.

Canadian millennials are nearly twice as likely to vote for Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives than Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s governing Liberals, according to new polling from Abacus Data.

The new survey of more than 2,000 adults, published last Thursday, also suggests the Liberals would fall to third-party status if an election was held today among Canada’s two youngest generation of voters.

The Tories are polling at 40 per cent among Canadian millennials, ahead of the NDP at 24 per cent and the Liberals at 21 per cent. Among the younger Gen Z cohort, the Conservatives also hold a strong lead at 32 per cent, six percentage points up over the NDP and eight percentage points ahead of the Liberals.

Maher: There‘s ‘Real Corruption‘ in Hunter Biden Scandal and ‘A Lot of the Left-Wing Media Will Not Cover‘ It

On Wednesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The Beat,” HBO host and comedian Bill Maher stated that while there is no Trump-Biden equivalency, the Hunter Biden scandal “stinks to the high heavens. That’s real corruption there, that a lot of the left-wing media will not cover.” And stated that there would be a much different reaction if Donald Trump Jr. had done what Hunter Biden has.

UN envoy links temporary foreign worker program to ‘contemporary forms of slavery’

A United Nations official on Wednesday denounced Canada’s temporary foreign worker program as a “breeding ground for contemporary forms of slavery.”

“I am disturbed by the fact that many migrant workers are exploited and abused in this country,” he said.

China wants to ban clothes that ‘hurt nation’s feelings’

A draft law banning speech and dressing “detrimental to the spirit of Chinese people” has sparked debate in China.

If the law comes into force, people found guilty could be fined or jailed but the proposal does not yet spell out what constitutes a violation.

Social media users and legal experts have called for more clarity to avoid excessive enforcement.

China recently released a swathe of proposed changes to its public security laws – the first reforms in decades.

Poilievre and Singh more trusted on housing as Liberal minister promises new policy this fall

War Housing Ajax

After a summer spent refocusing his government on the issue of housing affordability, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberals are still less trusted on the file than the Conservatives and the New Democrats, exclusive new polling numbers indicate.

According to a survey conducted by Nanos Research for CTV News Channel’s Power Play with Vassy Kapelos, Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives and Jagmeet Singh’s NDP are the most trusted federal parties when it comes to addressing skyrocketing housing costs.

No one runs away with this poll which may indicate the Uniparty is held in low esteem.

Two million motorists could be doctoring number plates to evade Ulez-style cameras

Up to one in 15 motorists – some two million – could be doctoring their number plates to avoid being caught by cameras enforcing Ulez zones and speed limits, a police investigation has suggested.

Government advisers have warned that controls on the sale of fake plates are so lax that the number of motorists seeking to evade detection is expected to rocket following the expansion of automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras to police new Ulez areas and 20mph speed limits.

Similarly, the survey found that only a small minority of Canadians view Israel as a “vibrant democracy.”

Sam Bankman-Fried loses bid to get out of jail, appeals court will hear case

Sam Bankman-Fried on Wednesday lost his bid to be freed immediately from a Brooklyn jail so he could prepare better for his criminal trial, less than a month away, over the collapse of his FTX cryptocurrency exchange.

In rejecting Bankman-Fried’s request, the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan nonetheless said it would ask the next available three-judge panel to consider it.
