Gazprom claims Canada-to-Germany gas turbine transfer not in step with contract

Delivery of a Nord Stream 1 gas turbine to Germany from Canada after maintenance was not in line with the contract, Gazprom’s senior manager said on Friday, stepping up criticism of manufacturer Siemens Energy.

The comments signalled a deepening of a row in which Russia has cited turbine problems as its reason for cutting gas supply via Nord Stream 1 — its main gas link to Europe — to just 20 per cent of capacity from Wednesday.

Vitaly Markelov, Gazprom’s deputy chief executive, also said Russia had complained repeatedly to Siemens Energy about problems with other turbines.

Good riddance to celebrity hypocrite Samantha Bee – Crying ‘racist!’ while opposing integration of her children’s school

At one point, Samantha Bee was hailed as Jon Stewart’s heir at The Daily Show — and quite honestly she probably should have gotten that job. Instead she ended up bolting Comedy Central for TBS, where she injected her sardonic brand of faux journalism into a format largely dominated by men. But just as with all late-night “comedy” shows, the Trump years turned her and her fellow hosts into progressive scolds and their audiences into clapping seals.

My pronouns are ‘she’ and ‘her.’  I am a woman sitting at the table wearing a blue suit,” she said recently to a group of “disability advocates.” But far worse than this childish nonsense is that she would use the disabled — for whom Roe v. Wade constituted a catastrophe — as a rhetorical prop to lament that ruling’s collapse.

Justice Alito mocks Prince Harry for Roe v. Wade criticism

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito has mocked Prince Harry and the “string of foreign leaders” who attacked the US for scrapping Roe v. Wade.

Alito, 72, drew laughter with his scathing speech at a conference on religious liberty in Italy, his first public remarks since the landmark 1973 abortion rights decision was overturned.

“What really wounded me — what really wounded me — was when the Duke of Sussex addressed the United Nations and seemed to compare the decision whose name may not be spoken with the Russian attack on Ukraine,” Alito said in a sarcastic tone of Harry.

Police dismissed the cases if complaints were filed against Asian families. An investigation found that more than a thousand children were sexually exploited in Telford amid the “shocking” shortcomings of the police and city council, the Times said. The suffering of children could have been avoided if the West Mercia police “had done their most basic work.” The investigation found that sexual exploitation of children “flourished” in the Shropshire town due to fears that investigations into Asian men would “inflame racial tensions”.

Tom Crowther QC, head of the investigation, said: “Countless children have been sexually assaulted and raped. They have been deliberately humiliated and degraded. They have been shared and trafficked. They were subjected to violence and their families threatened ”. Investigating them would have been “too politically incorrect”. Crowther said the exploitation continued “out of control” despite everyone being “aware of it in detail”.

A report by Quilliam International found that 84 percent of men convicted of being members of soliciting gangs are Pakistani Muslims.

Senior RCMP officer tells Nova Scotia mass shooting inquiry he was told not to disclose call from Commissioner Brenda Lucki

A senior Mountie told a public inquiry on Thursday that federal lawyers advised him not to disclose a call he received from the RCMP Commissioner that he says appeared to be motivated by a desire to use the Nova Scotia mass shooting to boost support for Liberal gun-control measures.

Chief Superintendent Chris Leather, testifying for a second day, said he believes political inference was behind RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki’s insistence that police release details on the guns used in the April, 2020, mass shooting that killed 22 people.

Tavistock gender identity clinic forced to shut over safety fears

The NHS is shutting down its gender identity clinic for children after a review found that it failed vulnerable under-18s.

The gender identity service at Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust has been ordered to close by next spring.

It will be replaced by regional centres at existing children’s hospitals offering more “holistic care” with “strong links to mental health services”.
