Maduro’s Fall Spotlights His Torture Chamber for Political Prisoners

It was meant to be a testament to Venezuela’s promising future as an oil-rich nation on the rise, an architectural wonder called the Helicoide spiraling around a massive rock in the center of Caracas.

Today, it is a notorious prison where the United Nations says political prisoners have been held for years and tortured under the regime of strongman Nicolás Maduro, who was captured in a U.S. raid last weekend and renditioned to New York to face trial.

Jamie Sarkonak: The federal judge determined to dismantle Canada’s immigration safeguards

Killjoy! Misunderstood Shakespeare: “Let’s Kill All The Lawyers”

In 2013, Toronto lawyer Avvy Yao-Yao Go described herself as a “loudmouth activist for politicians to contend with.” She was an advocate of chain migration, a former member of the Ontario law society’s equity committee, a vocal critic of journalists and politicians, and once, she even tried to force the government to pay reparations to descendants of Chinese-Canadians impacted by the head tax (after losing one appeal in this process, her organization accused an appeal judge of racism; the complaint was tossed out).

Call this what it is: Anti-white racism.  Ethno-terrorism is imbedded in Canada’s “diverse” institutions.

US troops in Germany are legacy of World War II, Cold War

Donald Trump’s desire to acquire Greenland has raised questions about the US’s commitment to NATO. The US maintains a major military presence in Germany — a vital part of its post-World War II national defense strategy.

Germany has been a vital part of the United States’ defense strategy in Europe since Allied forces occupied the country for 10 years following the end of World War II.

Though troop numbers have, of course, fallen significantly since those days, the US military still maintains a major presence in Germany, and over the intervening decades, American military communities have formed around a handful of German towns.

The total number of US military personnel has also risen significantly in the past few years, from fewer than 39,000 in 2019 to over 50,000 in 2024. The only other country where the US keeps a comparable number of overseas troops is Japan.

GOOGLE AI – Does the German public wish that America would close it’s military bases in Germany?

Desire for Withdrawal: Recent data indicates that approximately 47% of Germans support reducing the number of U.S. soldiers, and roughly 25% (one in four) would prefer a complete withdrawal of all American forces.

Geopolitical Shifts: The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has created a paradoxical situation where many Germans feel “unprotected” and “abandoned” by U.S. policy shifts, yet 58% oppose Germany taking a leading military role to replace the U.S..

Trump just like Hitler says Godwin and Mail

Wake up, Canada. The Trump Doctrine is aimed at us

In the spring of 1944, George Klein, an 18-year-old Jewish-Hungarian, was shown a copy of a report prepared by two escapees from Auschwitz. In minute detail, it described the operation of the secret death camp.

The Nazis were at that moment in the midst of deporting the Jews of Hungary. Hundreds of thousands had already been taken and were already dead. Yet that The Final Solution was the policy of one of the world’s most advanced societies was still almost beyond comprehension, even to many of those about to become its targets.

Should someone tell the Globe that Trump removes Hitlers?

‘An incomprehensible nightmare’: grief turns to anger over Swiss bar fire as Le Constellation owner arrested

Like many young people across Switzerland, Kenzo Ronnow, a university student in Lausanne, slept in on 1 January after celebrating the new year.

But as he scrolled through his phone soon after waking, he saw the lead story of a foreign news website was about Switzerland.

A fire had ripped through Le Constellation, a bar in Crans-Montana, an Alpine ski resort in Switzerland’s Valais canton and a customary haunt for New Year’s Eve revellers.

One of the two bar owners was on Friday taken into custody.

UAE sees Muslim Brotherhood as a problem. Why not Canada?

The United Arab Emirates has dropped British universities from a list of schools their citizens can study at under government scholarship. The reason according to the Financial Times in London, which broke the story, is over concerns that students will become radicalized in Britain due to the influence of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Musk says X outcry is ‘excuse for censorship’

Elon Musk has said that critics of his social media site X are looking for “any excuse for censorship”, amid reports that X’s artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot Grok was creating non-consensual sexualised images of people, including children.

Ofcom says it is conducting an urgent assessment of X in response, which has been backed by Technology Secretary Liz Kendall.

She described the sexual manipulation of images of women and children as “despicable and abhorrent”, adding that she would expect to see an update from Ofcom in “days”.

OLDCORN: Liberals $200 million racist slush fund

Ottawa’s latest endowment isn’t ‘equity’ — it’s state-sanctioned discrimination against every Canadian who doesn’t fit its racial criteria.

Another week, another multi-million dollar segregation of your tax dollars by the federal government. This time, it’s a so-called “Black-led Philanthropic Endowment Fund,” which is a permanent $200 million pot of money, courtesy of Budget 2021, reserved exclusively for “Black-led and Black-serving organizations.”

Carney’s Beijing Visit Sends a ‘Deeply Troubling Signal’: China Watchers Alarmed by PM’s Trip

Chinese Canadian pro-democracy activist Sheng Xue says the timing of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s visit to China next week “sends a deeply troubling signal,” given the United States, Canada’s closest ally, is taking action to curb the regime’s reach in the Western Hemisphere.

Carney will meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and business leaders during his visit to China from Jan. 13 to Jan. 17, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said. Discussions are expected to revolve around trade, energy, agriculture, and international security.

Iran leader says anti-government protesters are vandals trying to please Trump

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has called anti-government protesters “troublemakers” and “a bunch of vandals” just trying “to please the president of the US”.

He accused crowds of destroying buildings because Donald Trump said he “supports you”. Trump has warned Iran that if it kills protesters, the US would “hit” the country “very hard”.

The protests, in their 13th day, erupted over the economy and have grown into the largest in years – leading to calls for an end to the Islamic Republic and some urging the restoration of the monarchy.
