There does remain one major difference between Canada and Cuba. Few Cubans support their Marxist leaders, but most Canadians support theirs. They don’t know what they’re in for.

Canada is leaving the Western world.

In terms of all-encompassing government, suppression of dissent and the denial of fundamental human rights to many of its citizens, Canada is now more similar to Cuba than to any free country. Canada may eventually return to Western civilization, but right now, the majority of Canadians appear to have no interest in it doing so. According to Maru Public Opinion, “two-thirds (66 percent) of Canadians support Prime Minister Justin Trudeau bringing in the Emergencies Act . . . A majority (56 percent) of Canadians do not support the truckers who are protesting in any way, shape, or form . . . This is a majority view held in every province/region across the country.”

The Arabs are saying that they cannot understand the Biden administration’s reluctance to re-designate the Houthi militia as a terrorist organization, particularly after the recent drone and missile attacks on Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Chinese government agency that works with Canadians involved in espionage, Federal Court affirms

The outfit has worked with a top Canadian scientist, a member of the Ontario legislature and children in the Toronto area.

Its name sounds more bureaucratic than menacing.

But the Chinese government’s Overseas Chinese Affairs Office (OCAO) is involved in espionage that harms Canada’s interests, a Federal Court judge has affirmed in what appears to be a precedent-setting new ruling.

Ontario police forces investigate after possible member donations to convoy protests

Two Ontario police forces have launched internal investigations or reviews, saying some of their members appear to have donated to the convoy that blockaded Ottawa and other border crossings.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said it is starting an internal investigation, while the Toronto Police Service said it has referred two of three names to its professional standards unit.

“The matter has been brought to the attention of OPP Command, and the OPP Professional Standards Unit has launched an internal conduct investigation into this matter,” wrote OPP spokesperson Bill Dickson in a statement.

Metaverse app allows kids into virtual strip clubs

Some apps in the virtual-reality metaverse are “dangerous by design”, the NSPCC has warned in response to a BBC News investigation.

A researcher posing as a 13-year-old girl witnessed grooming, sexual material, racist insults and a rape threat in the virtual-reality world.

The children’s charity said it was “shocked and angry” at the findings.

Head of online child safety policy Andy Burrows added the investigation had found “a toxic combination of risks”.

Trudeau is expected to make the announcement in Ottawa at 4 p.m. eastern time.

The sources spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

Protesters may no longer be set up in downtown Ottawa but some have relocated elsewhere in the region, with private property owners offering up sites for people to regroup.

Trucks, trailers and Canadian flags have been spotted on sites in Ottawa’s vicinity in recent days following the removal of protesters from the city’s downtown.

The protesters, some of whom called for an end to COVID-19 mandates, first rolled into Ottawa nearly four weeks ago.

Germany home to 1,950 potentially violent Islamist extremists

The German government has revealed there are about 1,950 potentially violent Islamist extremists in the country.

These people were assessed by the Interior Ministry as both extreme in their beliefs and either known to be violent or showing a willingness to commit violent acts.

They were the most dangerous of the roughly 29,000 people believed to have Islamist extremist tendencies in Germany, who in turn are a minority of the approximately 5.5 million Muslims in the country.

Canada is becoming an authoritarian state

The discussions held by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Premiers leading up to the imposition of The Emergencies Act will not be made public, but the results are obvious: All Premiers except one, Ontario Premier Doug Ford, told Trudeau not to do it.

I’m sure that they all urged the Prime Minister to take the glaringly obvious, commonsense step of engaging in dialogue with the truckers. I would guess that the Premiers told Ford to do the same as well. Ford did not budge. He chose to save his own political skin over doing the right thing for the country. Ditto for Trudeau.

Russian forces massing near Ukraine’s borders can only remain in position for a few days before they have to be sent back to nearby bases or risk their capability being significantly degraded, western officials and experts believe.

That means that President Vladimir Putin will come under increasing pressure to use them in a full invasion of Ukraine – or send them back to staging areas, still in Russia’s south or west, but tens or even hundreds of kilometres back.

Such advance positions, often with poor protection from the cold, can be held only for a short period – and there is some evidence on social media of the poor conditions endured by soldiers near the border.

Washington, DC, issued an alert Tuesday as officials brace for an expected caravan of trucks arriving in the nation’s capital to emulate the anti-mandate trucker protests in Canada.
