‘Mindblowing’ population of feral goldfish in Ottawa pond to be euthanized

The City of Ottawa is preparing to euthanize a school of invasive goldfish living in a stormwater pond in the Central Park neighbourhood, though the size of the population remains in question.

In March, city staff removed about 5,000 dead goldfish “using nets in the water and by hand” from the pond in Celebration Park, according to a written statement.

The city now says it has found a new population of goldfish in the same pond. Based on “a rough visual assessment,” the surviving school is believed to number somewhere between 500 and 1,000, the city said.

Mamdani’s First Endorsement Called Al Qaeda Terrorist a Hero

Daughter of an illegal alien criminal and terrorist supporter runs for office in New York.

Aber Kawas claims that her activism began when her illegal alien father was deported after being arrested for a crime in New Jersey. Now she’s Zohran Mamdani’s first endorsement.

Kawas had described Fahad Hashmi, convicted of providing material support to Al Qaeda, a synagogue bomber and the Hamas fundraisers known as the ‘Holy Land 5” as “imprisoned heroes” and “living martyrs”. (Mamdani had previously also expressed his support for the jailed Hamas fundraisers.) She expressed support for Ahmed Ferhani, who plotted to throw grenades into a synagogue, calling him “my brother, whose case I’ve followed and whose family I know.”

Why is the BBC denying the persecution of Nigeria’s Christians?

Western media have become apologists for violent Islamists.

Earlier this month, US president Donald Trump condemned Nigeria over the violent persecution of its Christian minority by Islamist groups like Boko Haram, Fulani militants and other violent actors. Trump called Nigeria a ‘country of particular concern’, and he is not alone. This weekend, Pope Leo XIV picked out Nigeria as a nation in which Christians are being persecuted.

At least since the Obama presidency the US State Dept. held to the position that the conflict was a land dispute between the Fulani tribesman (Muslims) and the Christian Igbo tribe.

Alaska tribal nations demand a say on Canadian resource projects

A group of Alaska tribal nations is going to the B.C. Supreme Court to demand a seat at the table in Canadian resource development – including a mine expansion that is among the nation-building projects Ottawa has selected as pivotal to economic development.

The Alaska groups argue that their historical use of what is now northwestern B.C. makes them Aboriginal peoples of Canada under the Constitution Act, saying that status should guarantee them the same rights to consultation as Canadian Indigenous groups.

NB: It’s not the first time US Tribes have demanded a say, The Columbia River Treaty now involves Tribes from both the US and Canada.

“The United States’ Columbia River Treaty with Canada governs hydropower and flood control on the 1,200-mile Columbia River. The current treaty, implemented in 1964, does not consider the needs of fish, a healthy river, or the treaty fishing rights and cultural resources that are now fully protected under modern laws.”

Intertribal Cooperation – Thirty-two tribes (fifteen in the US and seventeen in Canada) have come together to assist in the treaty review and participate in creating the next treaty that will incorporate ecosystem requirements.

UK Supreme Court Brands Northern Ireland Christian Teaching ‘Indoctrination’

In the name of objectivity and pluralism, religious education must introduce the beliefs of Islam and other religions as well, the Court says.

The UK Supreme Court has ruled that the Christian-focused model of religious education (RE) in Northern Ireland’s schools is unlawful, concluding that the current system fails to meet the requirement that teaching be “objective, critical and pluralistic.” The judgment follows a legal challenge brought by an unnamed father and his daughter, who attended a state-controlled primary school in Belfast. The girl had received Christian religious education and participated in Christian worship, but her non-religious parents objected to her being taught about Christian faith, despite having an option to withdraw their child at any time from RE.

Kelly McParland: Swedish jet offer is about more than just planes

New parents quickly develop a keen understanding of the gains to be had from anything that helps avoid waking the baby. Peace and quiet for one thing. A period of calm. A moment to think.

In Canada’s case, the baby is the current U.S. president. The president, as we know from repeat experience, is easily upset. When the president gets upset, he gets cranky, makes a lot of noise and causes untold disturbances. If you can, you want to avoid getting him upset.

Jeffrey Epstein’s Resentment Toward Donald Trump

There’s no doubt Jeffrey Epstein thought he was a very, very smart guy. “He always thought he was the smartest person in the room,” said one associate. Another said Epstein “thought he was smarter than the next guy.” When in 2008 Epstein pleaded guilty to procurement of a minor for prostitution, his defense asked for leniency based on his “unique intellect.”

You know your EV Strategy is an abject failure when you lose the Commies …

$50-bn in Subsidies has Failed to Secure EV Jobs, Investment or Future

n October 16, 2023, it was all smiles for the cameras in Loyalist Township where politicians and corporate executives gathered for a groundbreaking ceremony to build a new $2.761-billion Electric Vehicle battery parts plant. Loyalist Township, located next door to the Kingston, Ontario, is named after the Loyalists who, 250 years ago, sided with the British King against the American Revolution and crossed the St. Lawrence River to settle in Upper Canada.

The smiling politicians in Loyalist Township included Ontario Premier Doug Ford and his economic minister, Vic Fedeli, as well as Kingston’s Liberal Member of Parliament, Mark Gerretsen, and Trudeau’s federal industry minister, François-Philippe Champagne. Even the Belgian Ambassador was there. The politicians were boasting of 600 construction jobs, 700 permanent positions, and 700 student co-op placements.

The Vanishing Englishman: Inside the Schools Forecasting the UK Future

Immigration without integration is invasion.

If you want to know what a country will become, don’t ask a pollster — ask a headteacher. The corridors of Britain’s state schools are no longer corridors of power, but corridors of prophecy. The future is not some abstract projection. It is lining up in assembly, being taught phonics, and growing up in a reality utterly detached from the assumptions of Westminster or the nostalgia of middle England.

Trump Sets a New Direction on Homelessness Policy

Late last week, the Trump administration released revised scoring criteria for homelessness organizations seeking grant funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Continuum of Care program.

The move signals a new direction in federal homelessness policy. For more than a decade, HUD had supported “Housing First,” an approach that calls for permanent rental subsidies without behavioral expectations. Now, the agency will favor transitional work- and sobriety-oriented homelessness programs, in keeping with the administration’s July executive order.
