‘We should all live in my fairytale world’ says NDP leadership candidate Avi Lewis

‘We can’t keep increasing fossil fuel production,’ says NDP leadership candidate

NDP leadership candidate Avi Lewis says Canada cannot keep increasing fossil fuel production, likening the practice to an “addiction.”

Lewis, during a panel discussion on Friday with his main competitors in the race, labour leader Rob Ashton and Edmonton MP Heather McPherson, attempted to distinguish himself by telling the crowd that he would not support further expansion of natural gas, oil or coal in Canada.

“We need really straightforward policies that distinguish ourselves from the federal Liberals,” Lewis said. “We cannot keep increasing fossil fuel production in this country.”

Finland’s ‘Bible Tweet’ Case Will Decide Freedom of Speech in Europe

Finland Bible Tweet Case Päivi Räsänen

Finland’s Supreme Court on Thursday opened hearings against parliamentarian Dr. Päivi Räsänen and Bishop Juhana Pohjola in the infamous ‘Bible Tweet’ case, which many consider a defining moment for free speech and religious liberty in Europe. Both stand accused of ‘hate speech’ over public statements and writings expressing their Christian views on marriage and sexuality.

With their long-awaited budget, Liberals must answer the question: What do we want Canada to be about?

The upcoming federal budget won’t be routine. While budgets are political exercises as much as economic ones, the political exigencies of the day call for a plan to not only manage state finances and to set core policy goals, but to define the nature and purpose of the country itself. As the Trump administration continues its trade war against Canada – and the world – while we stare down threats to our sovereignty, a lingering affordability crisis and a potential recession, the Liberals must make a serious effort to answer the questions “What do we want this country to be about?” and “How do we wish to build the nation – and for whom?”

We know for “whom” and it ain’t us.

How Illegal Immigrant Truck Drivers Ended Up On America’s Roads

“They want the cheapest people behind the wheel and unfortunately by doing that … what we are getting now is carnage on the highway.”

Just a few years after waltzing across the border illegally, Indian national Harjinder Singh allegedly killed three people while making an illegal U-turn on a Florida turnpike as he sat behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler in August.

Singh came into the country in 2018 and was handed a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) in Washington in 2023, according to the Department of Transportation. He received his license despite having “failed his written exam 10 times, and he took his behind-the-wheel training course at a private CDL school in Washington,” Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier recently revealed as part of his ongoing investigation into California’s issuance of trucking licenses to illegal immigrants.

Canadian military wants mobilization plan in place to boost reserves to 400,000 personnel

Over representation of “White” hands merits a hate crime complaint.

The Canadian military has set in motion an initiative to increase the number of its part-time soldiers from the current 28,000 to 400,000 as part of an overall mobilization plan, according to a directive approved by senior leaders.

The directive, signed by Chief of the Defence Staff Gen. Jennie Carignan and defence deputy minister Stefanie Beck on May 30, 2025, outlines the need to increase the current reserve force from 23,561 to 100,000 and supplementary and other reserves from the current 4,384 to 300,000.

Is it time for Canada to make an auto deal with China?

In 1973, not many Canadians fell in love with a newly launched car that resembled a large toaster and had about the same horsepower. But it was extraordinarily cheap and matched many larger U.S. luxury cars in skilful engineering and reliability.

In its first year it found only 747 customers, though. Three years later, the Honda Civic was the bestselling import in Canada. Price was a factor — $2,150 — but only one. Like big car companies then and now, the Big Three were not known for their thoughtful and reasonably priced customer service.

New York holds its breath

Appallingly, progressive Jews are supporting an unhinged Jew-hater because they define this stance as conscience.

With the Islamist Zohran Mamdani poised to be elected mayor of New York City next week, many have been scratching their heads over how any Jew could be voting for him.

Mamdani is an Islamic terrorism sympathizer.

He supports a boycott of Israel and doesn’t believe that the Jewish state should exist.

He sees nothing wrong in chants of “globalize the intifada.”

Anti-white racism is rampant and must be stopped

The outrage that greeted Sarah Pochin’s comments about the number of black and Asian faces in television adverts has become its own kind of morality play. She was condemned and branded insensitive. Yet, behind the fury lies a deeper, more uncomfortable question: whilst her phrasing was clumsy, was there truth behind what she said?

I believe there was. And it is high time we acknowledged the inconvenient reality of a prejudice that has crept into our national life under the banner of progress: anti-white racism.

Why Did Communists Cosponsor “No Kings Day”?

Earlier this month, thousands of New Yorkers rallied for “No Kings Day.” While the event was presented as a moderate protest against President Donald Trump, something strange caught the eye of many: the New York event was cosponsored by, among other groups, the Communist Party of the United States. The CPUSA—as well as the New York Young Communist League, Freedom Socialist Party, and other radical groups—made for a stark contrast with more staid supporters like the Manhattan Young Democrats.

Why weren’t we told sooner about the implications of Aboriginal title? The answer should concern everyone

VICTORIA — The question that dominated a Richmond public meeting this week on the impact of a recent court decision on Aboriginal title was a simple one: “Why weren’t we told sooner?”

Residents had learned just this month, courtesy of a letter from Mayor Malcolm Brodie, that the B.C. Supreme Court decision recognizing Aboriginal title over hundreds of acres of city land could have a “negative impact” on private land within the area.

TERRAZZANO: Taxpayers can’t afford another Trudeau-style budget

Prime Minister Mark Carney sold Canadians on the idea that he’s the man with the plan to fix Canada’s economy and finances.

To make that image stick, he needs to show the new boss isn’t like the old boss when it comes to government spending and debt. Budget 2025 is Carney’s chance to prove he’ll be different from former prime minister Justin Trudeau by cutting spending, reducing debt and reining in Ottawa’s sprawling bureaucracy.
