Algerian woman jailed for life for murdering French schoolgirl

An Algerian woman who raped, tortured and killed a 12-year-old French schoolgirl has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

Dahbia Benkired, 27, was handed the maximum possible penalty by a Paris court for the killing of Lola Daviet, making her the first woman to receive a full life term in France.

The week-long trial into the 2022 killing caused political outrage after Benkired was found to have overstayed a student visa and failed to comply with a notice to leave the country.

How One Ad Sent U.S.-Canada Trade Talks Into a Tailspin

Canadian officials were just starting to get their hopes up.

Negotiators from Ottawa and Washington had spent weeks hashing out a potential deal to reduce punishing 50% tariffs President Trump had imposed on steel and aluminum, and the Canadians were growing optimistic in recent days, according to people familiar with the talks. The discussions were punctuated by an amicable Oval Office meeting earlier this month between Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. Both leaders expressed confidence that they could get the trade relationship back on track.

The West is tolerating Third World behavior. No wonder it’s in trouble

Claudine Gay – Liar, plagiarist

I was on a panel recently talking about work visas and immigration policy. Despite some disagreement about tactics, we agreed more than I expected on policy. Something else struck me, too. We didn’t interrupt each other. We spoke in turn, deferred to each other, and otherwise behaved civilly.

These days, that seems rare. The Left-wing broadcast media is increasingly intolerant of particular views. A recent report from the Media Research Centre, for example, found that the supercilious CNN host Abby Phillip interrupted liberal guests three times but conservative guests 127 times during a “random sample of 10 episodes” of her news show. In that, she was perhaps just mirroring the West more broadly, in which supposedly “offensive” speech on subjects like gender or race is ever-more heavily policed.

Vivian Bercovici: Carney undermined U.S. trade negotiations with his anti-Israel policy

SDEROT, Israel — U.S. President Donald Trump’s Thursday night social media post in which he called off trade negotiations with Canada was not a bluff. It was also foreseeable.

His dramatic statement was putatively prompted by Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s puerile ad campaign against tariffs. But that was just an easy deflection from the real issue.

Canada’s electric vehicle supply chain is fading. Will dreams of making the country an EV powerhouse survive?

Amidst a collapse in electric vehicle sales and persistent United States tariffs, there’s an emerging consensus that the grand vision to transform Canada into an electric vehicle manufacturing powerhouse is dying.

General Motors Co. announced earlier this week that it would end production of its BrightDrop electric delivery van, leaving 1,000 workers in Ingersoll, Ont., with an uncertain future. Last week, Stellantis NV confirmed it will not start EV production at its Brampton assembly plant next year as originally planned, provoking threats of a lawsuit by the federal government.

German Scholar’s Home Raided Over Ironic Tweet

Many voices—this time, even on the political left—in politics and journalism sharply criticized the police search of author and scholar Norbert Bolz’s home on Thursday. Ricarda Lang, former leader of Germany’s Green Party, emphasized that such raids are “absurd” and that this broad interpretation of criminal law in matters of opinion “undermines public trust in the rule of law.”

From WTO to Net-Zero: Observers Question the West’s Persistent Hope That China Will Reform Through Engagement

As then-Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault faced questions about his travel to China in 2023 amid reports of widespread interference by Beijing in Canada’s internal affairs, he said engagement with China was needed to tackle climate change.

Last month, Prime Minister Mark Carney also had words of praise for China on net-zero initiatives, saying on Sept. 22, “In my experience with China, they are, amongst other things, very sincere and engaged on climate.”

McTEAGUE: The EV mandate is killing our automotive industry

GM Brightdrop EV Dropped

Another day, another calamity for the Liberals’ attempt to turn Canada into a global Electric Vehicles (EV) superpower: General Motors has just announced that they’re ending production of Bright Drop electric delivery vans at their assembly plant in Ingersoll, Ontario.

According to GM Canada’s President, Kristian Aquilina, “These Bright Drop vans are a specialized electric delivery van for commercial customers and, quite simply, we just have not seen demand for these vehicles climb to the levels that we initially anticipated.”

NBC Is Helping Run Anti-ICE Ops For Dems

NBC “Propaganda Press” News has an exclusive, and it sent a press release about it to other press so all press can report that a handful of Democrat senators have written a letter. Sure, senators write strongly worded letters all the time — and often they result in no action — but NBC is marketing this letter as a big deal, doing its part to spread Democrat propaganda.
