For Pierre Poilievre, defending Freedom Convoy convicts is a political survival strategy

Anyone expecting a gentler, more moderate Pierre Poilievre to emerge following his electoral defeat can put to rest any speculation that the Conservative leader is planning a great reset.

Despite internal grumblings that Poilievre’s combative tone and coziness with far-right types has been bringing their party down, his Conservatives are back and picking fights with Crown prosecutors trying “Freedom Convoy” leaders Tamara Lich and Chris Barber.

‘Trump ate von der Leyen for breakfast’: EU tears itself apart over ‘badly negotiated’ trade deal – while Labour admits Brexit got UK better terms

European leaders have rounded on their ‘badly negotiated’ US trade deal which has left the bloc with worse terms than Britain – saying Donald Trump ‘ate von der Leyen for breakfast’.

It comes after the US president announced he had agreed ‘the biggest deal ever made’ between the US and the European Union following a meeting with European Commission chief Ursuala von der Leyen.

The agreement will subject the EU to 15per cent tariffs on most of its goods entering America.

Europol Chief: “12-Year-Olds Kill for €20,000”

In a recent interview with Belgian L’Echo, Catherine De Bolle, the executive director of Europol, who has headed the agency since 2018, shared shocking facts about drug cartels, child exploitation, and cybercrime in Europe.

De Bolle explained that since the pandemic, criminals have fully embraced the digital world. This is also true for drug trafficking, where the bulk of activities happen online. “Encrypted messages allow a container of cocaine to be exchanged for a building, money laundering is done digitally, and payments are made in cryptocurrencies,” she explained.

HILL: Our Canada, consumed by hate, paralyzed by fear

Are you like me? Do you resist reading the morning news because there only seems to be “bad news”?

I remember a time not so long ago when Leah and I felt it our civic duty to be informed. While enjoying our morning coffee, we would spread our newspapers out on our kitchen counter and pore over the headlines, picking out what we believed to be the must-read stories of the day. We would proceed to discuss the good, the bad and the ugly.

Barry Appleton: Canada submits to China’s algorithmic colonialism

On Nov. 6, 2024, Canada ordered TikTok’s local offices expelled but left its influence engine untouched. The result? Fewer Canadian jobs, no new oversight, and continued foreign control over our digital public square. It makes about as much sense as banning foreign diplomats while allowing their propaganda broadcasts to continue uninterrupted.

Canada’s shutdown order, issued after a national security review, eliminates TikTok’s 350 Canadian employees and halts cultural sponsorships worth millions. Yet the algorithm that shapes what Canadians see, share, and believe remains entirely in Chinese hands. We have managed to achieve the worst of both worlds: less accountability with zero additional protection.

Ratcliffe: Statute of Limitations Won’t Protect Brennan — Or Hillary and Comey Either

As Cypress Hill once warned: When the shizz goes down, you better get ready. According to current CIA director John Ratcliffe, the shizz may come down sooner than some authors of the Russia-collusion hoax think. Thanks to the precedent-breaking lawfare of the Joe Biden Regency, a few of them will have nowhere to hide when it does, too.

Ford walks back vow to have province issue asylum seekers work permits so his fat cat corporate cronies can get more slaves faster than Feds can provide

Massa Ford

Ontario Premier Doug Ford is retracting a vow he made last week to have his province issue its own work permits to asylum seekers in the face of what he said were federal government delays that have left refugee applicants in limbo.

“I don’t want to take the responsibility off the federal government,” Mr. Ford told reporters outside his office at Queen’s Park on Monday. “But in saying that, if you have a pulse and you’re healthy, you need to be working.”

Dems, Media Richly Deserve Their Dismal Ratings

Both endure their lowest standing with the public since the last century.

Anyone old enough to have watched the original Star Wars film on the big screen will clearly remember the scene in which Obi-Wan Kenobi advises Luke Skywalker that the Mos Eisley settlement is “a wretched hive of scum and villainy.” According to a new Wall Street Journal poll, this is very much the way most voters view the Democratic Party. Specifically, the survey found that 63 percent of voters hold an unfavorable view of “the Party of Jefferson and Jackson.” Considering the absurd antics to which voters have been subjected by these people, it’s remarkable that their numbers aren’t worse.

Trump’s Mental-Health Executive Order Targets Urban Chaos

Says she’s non-binary, a sure sign of healthy mental hygeine

In Thinking About Crime, social scientist James Q. Wilson cautioned against focusing on the “root causes” of disorder. Public policy, Wilson argued, should not try to remake society but instead concern itself with what’s practical and possible: incapacitating chronic offenders, creating clear incentives, and providing structure for those who can’t control themselves.

The root-cause mindset has long driven ineffective mental-health policy. The belief that addressing adverse social conditions would prevent mental illness has put mental-health professionals at the center of social reform, with a broad mandate of addressing crime, dependency, and other complex problems. It hasn’t worked.

Unprosecuted: Canada Drops Narcotics Precursor Import Case Against Chinese Scientist Tied to United Front Political Networks

Fentanyl Precursor Chemical 4-Piperidone

OTTAWA / LOS ANGELES — In this discussion with Chris Meyer of Widefountain, we dig deeper into my findings on an explosive narcotics precursor case quietly dropped by Canadian prosecutors—and what it reveals about Canada’s growing vulnerabilities to foreign infiltration.

We unpack the story of a Chinese chemist, known here as Dr. X, who was charged with importing more than 100 kilograms of PMK ethyl glycidate—a key chemical used in the production of MDMA (ecstasy). Court records show Dr. X had direct ties to a bio-pharmaceutical firm affiliated with the University of British Columbia, and was reportedly recruited under Beijing’s “Thousand Talents Plan”—a program U.S. intelligence agencies warn is used to facilitate espionage and the transfer of dual-use technologies.

Hamas’s Dream: Turning Palestinians Into a ‘Nation of Martyrs’

On October 24, 2023, senior Hamas official Ghazi Hamad threatened that his Iran-backed terror group would carry out more massacres against Israelis — time and again until Israel was annihilated. Referring to the Hamas-led October 7, 2023 invasion of Israel that resulted in the murder of more than 1,200 Israelis and foreign nationals, Hamad said:

“The Al-Aqsa Flood [the name Hamas uses to describe its October 7 slaughter] is just the first time, and there will be a second, a third, a fourth…. Will we have to pay a price? Yes, and we are ready to pay it. We are called a nation of martyrs, and we are proud to sacrifice martyrs.”

Joe Oliver: And suddenly, climate change hysteria is gone

Only 4% of Canadians think climate change is our top problem. But many of them are hard-core activists ready to block projects

Over the past several months, public concern about climate change has declined dramatically, replaced by newfound enthusiasm for the development of Canada’s vast oil and gas reserves. The federal government is now under mounting political pressure to expedite the construction of pipelines to tidewater that will bring economic growth, employment, energy security and funding for social programs or tax relief.
