BCF Fundraiser… and an update

Note – This post is a sticky new posts will appear below.

Hello everyone.

Thank you all for sustaining me through this worst of years.

Your love of Kathy and Mom along with your kind words and prayers have had an immeasurably positive effect on my ability to cope.

Since lockdown restrictions have been eased to a reasonable degree I have been able to make funeral arrangements.

Kathy will be laid to rest in early September, I will announce the time and place as the day draws near for those wishing to attend. Mom will be laid to rest in August.

Beyond flowers and honorariums for the priests all costs for Kathy and Mom have been covered.

However I have received, courtesy of our government, some estate related repayments that need taking care of, not huge of themselves but untimely as only our government could manage. Along with this comes a small matter related to Kathy’s estate that requires a legal document to be prepared, sworn and witnessed and of course that means legal fees.

Oh and there’s that little issue of a root canal. I ignored my dentist these past 18 months contrary to Kathy’s wishes and have now paid the price.  Kathy, always a stickler about dental hygiene, was right of course, I should not have put my regular visits off.

I sat in our dentist’s chair and thought back to when Kathy first visited in Vancouver. She arrived as a molar of mine was erupting in agonizing pain. I was lucky to find a local dentist who took me in as his last client of the day. Long story short the dentist had to saw the tooth in half in order to extract it. I hate going to the dentist in case you hadn’t guessed. Kathy was allowed to sit beside me as the Doctor worked, yes holding my hand. How many gals would do that and not scold you for being an overgrown baby? That memory was comfort throughout my latest ordeal. Kathy remains as always a strong and wise shoulder to lean on.

The blog has kept me going providing both purpose and needed distraction. Thanks are due in no small part to my co-bloggers and of course all of BCF’s readers for helping me navigate the maze of this dark year.

If you can pitch in a little to help keep the blog going I thank you, do not worry if you can’t, these are not easy times for many of us. My own work has not yet rebounded as hoped thanks to lockdown and I am sure many of you are in the same boat.

If you wish to donate you may use the PayPal button on the sidebar or you may donate by interac to blazingcatfur@gmail.com.

Thank you all.
