There’s something strange going on with the Liberals. They are often referred to as the “natural governing party” of Canada given their near unparalleled dominance at the national level for much of Canada’s history. Their governing success wouldn’t be possible were the Liberals not also really good at winning elections. The Liberals don’t always run brilliant campaigns (see the 2011 election) but it’s what we generally expect of them. Given this “snap” election was an open secret for months, you would assume the Liberals have had ample time to prepare for it and would be ready to hit the ground running.
