Many Canadians may not realize the investment transactions of everyone from President Joe Biden to Senator Bernie Sanders and every single member of Congress are easily searchable online. They’re entirely out in the open for the public to review. When it comes to preventing conflicts of interest and self-enrichment, this seems like a bare minimum standard of transparency.
Meanwhile, most Canadian politicians and public officials choose to keep their finances shrouded in secrecy — and the law allows them to do it, no questions asked, barring a rather weak conflict of interest code that says a MPs who have a private interest which may be affected by a matter before the House of Commons or a committee they’re a part of should disclose it and abstain from debating or voting on it. However, this relies on MPs correctly identifying and choosing to share conflicts, and only requires they disclose the “general nature” of the private interest, which still allows for a layer of obfuscation. There’s also no easily accessible public registry where viewing politicians’ potential conflicts is just a Google search away.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination to be required for all indoor sports in Toronto
Those lacing up for indoor hockey, taking swimming lessons, or taking part in a range of other indoor sports activities in Toronto will soon have to show proof of vaccination.
On Friday, Toronto’s top doctor issued a letter of instruction requiring all people age 12 and older who take part in indoor organized sports to provide proof of vaccination.
Employees who refuse to be vaccinated can be fired: lawyer
The federal government has said its workers must be vaccinated by October 29 or risk being terminated. Now private companies are also looking at bringing in their own vaccination polices.

Government forcing employees working from home to be vaccinated, or universities requiring it for students taking online courses, is proof that it has nothing to do with the science. It’s a witch hunt.

The White House is calling for an AI ‘bill of rights’
The Biden administration announced on Friday that it wants information on a wide range of biometric systems as part of the first step in creating what it called a “bill of rights” for the age of artificial intelligence.
The call by the White House’s Office of Science and Technology Policy seeks information “on past deployments, proposals, pilots, or trials, and current use of biometric technologies for the purposes of identity verification, identification of individuals, and inference of attributes including individual mental and emotional states.”
