Canada spends up to $450M on new COVID drug outperformed by placebo in some trials

 

When pharmaceutical companies named a new drug for treating COVID-19 patients, they evoked a powerful image, that of Norse god Thor’s hammer, Mjölnir.

The idea is that Molnupiravir — a pill that can be taken at home — would strike a mighty blow against the virus as it continues to spread and sicken people worldwide.
