The prime minister is defending a bill his government has before Parliament to reduce sentencing requirements for gun crimes, saying it’s about racial equity.
“What our communities need is a justice system that punishes criminals. What we do not need is a system that targets racialized people because of systemic discrimination,” Trudeau said in the Commons last week.

As gas prices reached an eighth consecutive day record high, Biden has focused on more costly and inaccessible green energy. According to Reuters, Biden will “help bridge a solar panel supply gap and kickstart stalled U.S. projects after an investigation froze imports from key foreign suppliers.”

Largest Migrant Caravan In Tapachula, Mexico Departs Toward United States Border
A migrant caravan of up to 12,000 people has left Tapachula, Mexico on June 6 to make their way to the United States southern border. According to Oscar El Blue, reporter from Border Network News, the caravan leader Irineo Mujica claims that 3,000 children are included in this caravan.
Tapachula is a city in southern Mexico where migrants stay as they prepare to make their journey up north through Mexico to arrive to the United States. The most recent caravan is the biggest one that has left the city so far in an attempt to reach the United States.

The chant in Arabic blasted from rooftop loudspeakers, drowning out both the growl of traffic from nearby interstates and the chatter and clinking glasses on the patio of the dive bar that shares a wall with Minneapolis’ oldest Somali mosque. Dozens of men in fashionably ripped jeans or impeccably ironed kameez tunics rushed toward the Dar Al-Hijrah mosque. Teens clutched smartphones, and some of the older devout shuffled in with the aid of walkers from the high-rise complex across the street where thousands of Somalis live. This spring Minneapolis became the first large city in the United States to allow the Islamic call to prayer, or adhan, to be broadcast publicly by its two dozen mosques.
