The sound of shackles as Ghislaine Maxwell entered the courtroom will stay with Sarah Ransome for ever. “The shame and guilt you feel after being raped is deafening. I have been shamed for 16 years. So to hear those shackles was basically like me putting my middle finger up to every single one of those people who have ever called me names, who doubted me and made me doubt myself,” she says. “It was a reality check on the severity of what she has actually done, not only to me, but to so many others.”
