A huge fire has broken out at Iran’s notorious Evin prison – where political prisoners and anti-government activists are held.
Gunshots are reported to have been fired as the blaze took hold at the jail in the capital Tehran on Saturday.

Shots are being fired while Evin burns. If, God forbid, political prisoners perish, then this will be an event on the scale of the Cinema Rex fire in Abadan in August 1978 that accelerated the downfall of the Shah. #Mahsa_Amini #IranRevolution2022 pic.twitter.com/hGCiOfbRde
