Liz Truss has resigned and the lettuce has won. It is a historic downfall and Truss was treated with all the tenderness reserved for an animal being led to the slaughterhouse during her last hours. A quick, cruel end, meted out ruthlessly and immediately by disgruntled and fed-up Conservative MPs.
