Rahim Mohamed: Patrick Brown’s uncommon political skills a missed opportunity for Poilievre

In politics, as in life, it is generally a good practice to keep one’s friends close and one’s enemies even closer. On the heels of the recent municipal elections in Ontario, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre likely wishes he took this piece of received wisdom to heart.

In one of the few highlights from an otherwise sleepy night (nearly two-thirds of eligible voters stayed home), Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown was comfortably re-elected to a second term in office, cruising past runner-up Nikki Kaur by a two-to-one margin, even though Kaur enlisted high-profile strategist Nick Kouvalis to help guide her campaign. (Kouvalis, one of the most feared backroom operatives in all of Canada, once boasted about his ability to end “politicians’ careers.”)

This is an insane piece. About the only thing Brown’s victory has shown is that Brampton is a shithole and Canada’s 1st Tower Hamlets.
