The number of homicides committed by American teenagers has risen by a third since the start of the pandemic, official figures show.
Juvenile crime had been falling across the US for several decades, but federal data from 2020 show that killings committed by juveniles rose by 30 per cent compared with the previous 12 months. At the same time the number of homicides involving multiple teenagers was up by two thirds in the same period.
