India sounds alarm over spate of Gandhi statue vandalism in Canada
A statue of Indian independence leader Mahatma Gandhi on the campus of Vancouver’s Simon Fraser University had its head removed on Monday night, the latest instance in an emerging Canadian trend of Gandhi statues being vandalized or defaced.
In a statement, Burnaby RCMP said that a “power tool” was likely used, and acknowledged “that Gandhi statues have been damaged in other areas of Canada in the past.”
