The paper’s struggle with trans and slavery issues has created deep divisions

For so many of its 200 years it has portrayed itself as the voice of liberal Britain, a pulpit of high moral thinking and editorial freedom from which others might care to learn. But all is not well in London’s N1. And while no one wants to be on the wrong side of history, The Guardian is “tying itself up in knots” as it tries to avoid that fate.
