Ottawa evacuates embassy staff from Sudan, but thousands of Canadians remain stranded

A small handful of Canadian embassy staff have been evacuated from war-ravaged Khartoum as part of a dramatic airlift of international diplomats by helicopter, airplane and ship, but more than 1,590 Canadians remain trapped in the country as the heavy fighting persists.

“Our diplomats are safe – they have been extracted and are working from outside the country – and we are looking at every possible option to support our locally engaged staff,” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in a tweet on Sunday.

We’ve seen this before.

Canadians of convenience who acquired passports the last time their beloved “homeland” imploded go right back when things have settled down and now demand rescue from their once again incendiary 3rd world shithole. They took on the risk of their own volition, we should not be held responsible for their decisions.
