A former grammar school boy who called himself the “Jihadi Hipster” has been jailed for life on his return to Britain after spending three years with Islamic State in Syria.
Shabazz Suleman was living with his family in a detached, seven-bedroom house in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, when he vanished on a family holiday to Turkey in August 2014 at the age of 18. He tried to cross into Syria but was captured by Turkish forces. He was then part of a prisoner swap with Isis, which was holding a number of Turkish diplomats.
