Accusations are starting to mount against Israel’s allegedly disproportionate response to Hamas’ slaughter of around 1,400 Israeli men, women and children, and the kidnapping of at least 199. Israel’s enemies joyously celebrated the butchery around the world, including on the streets of Canadian cities, which is as appalling as it is concerning. As is the hypocritical call for Israel’s response to be “proportionate” — a standard that is not required under international law and that no other democratic countries are held to.
People who celebrate the massacre of Jewish infants are virulent antisemites. Hamas apologists, including academics, students, labour union leaders and assorted leftists are useful idiots in thrall to a postmodern ideology that demonizes and delegitimizes the Jewish state.
