Pro-Palestinian marchers chanting “jihad” at a protest on Saturday should be arrested, the government’s independent adviser on political violence and disruption has said.
Lord Walney added that protest organisers should contribute to the spiralling costs of policing as up to 200,000 people are anticipated in London for the first big demonstration of the year.
Police sources anticipate that the military action in Yemen will add to the crowds expected at the protest and that about 1,700 officers will be on the streets, some brought in from outside Scotland Yard.
