An ugly scene unfolded on Saturday, as dozens of anti-Israel demonstrators clogged the streets of downtown Ottawa, shouting genocidal slogans like “long live Oct. 7” and “from the river to the sea.”
The open intolerance on display in our nation’s capital played into a broader trend on both sides of the Canada-U.S. border: protesters across the continent are increasingly dropping any pretense of civility and behaving in an overtly hateful manner. This is a trend that has no doubt been abetted by leaders who have overlooked, or downplayed, the growing hatred.
