OTTAWA—The Royal Canadian Mounted Police’s addition of ribbon skirts to its uniform is being viewed as ignorant of the force’s history with Indigenous people rather than the symbol of reconciliation that it is being presented as.
On Wednesday, RCMP Commissioner Mike Duheme announced on X, formerly Twitter, the addition of ribbon skirts, along with the eagle feather and Métis sash already in use, to “demonstrate the RCMP’s values of reconciliation, equity, diversity, and inclusion.”
I thought it was a Gay flag.
