An invasion of “super-ants” is causing a stir in Germany after a prolifically reproducing species from north Africa was blamed for knocking out internet and electricity connections.
Residents of Kehl, near the French border, say the insects are breeding at such a pace that nothing can be done to prevent giant colonies from spreading across entire districts, where their tunnels are undermining roads and pavements.
