The British Left were always bound to loathe any running mate of Donald Trump. Yet they’ve launched into J.D. Vance in record time. And it’s all because of a joke.
“I was talking with a friend recently,” Mr Vance told a recent conference of American conservatives,” and I [asked], “‘What is the first truly Islamist country that will get a nuclear weapon?’ And we were like, ‘Maybe it’s Iran’, ‘Maybe Pakistan already kind of counts.’ And then we finally decided, ‘Maybe it’s actually the UK, since Labour just took over…’”
